Hiram and Laura McLellan completed their round-the-world cruise on the Gripsholm, at Los Angeles on April 6 ... A note to welcome the Wolffs home to Princeton proved a little premature. Irving's secretary phoned that, after topping off the winter visiting friends in France and a month in Sicily, they were continuing their European travels through July ... A routine phone call to Dick Parkhurst has found him just back from service in Washington but looking forward to having a ten-day respite with Kay in Bermuda in early May ... Wilby Sully's experience of the winter was a four-day stay in hospital with pericarditis, a stay that left him so healthy, his doctor said, that he ought to go out and get himself a good job. Our request of Wilby for news of his neighbor Frank Pettengill also succeeded to the extent that Wilby "had a long phone talk with Frank's very pleasant secretary and incidentally learned that he is again quite well and conducting his medical practice regularly."

A note of appreciation from William R. Gough Jr. says: "Dartmouth always meant a great deal to my father. He used to sit and .tell me all about Dartmouth - his days there, the football and baseball games, the Winter Carnival, his classmates and friends. It is comforting to know that they care."

We would like to submit for honorable mention the name of Leslie Leavitt, four pages of whose undergraduate letters home brought through these columns recently to alumni old and young their fair picture of Dartmouth campus life 60 years ago. His long career of wholesome service bore out his early promise.

We would also like to pay tribute to Charles Widmayer 1930 as he imminently retires from thirty years service as editor of this DartmouthAlumni Magazine. Truly the present Magazine is the shadow of the man. Modest and effective, he has provided much of "the cement that holds the Dartmouth alumni together as the unique body of men that they are."
