Don Hunt was married on September 16 to Mrs. Barbara Helen Bogardus. The wedding took place in Sodus Point, N.Y., while they were visiting Ed and Frances Burns whose son- in-law performed the ceremony. Ed acted as best man. Don and Barbara have purchased a villa at Whispering Sands, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Fla., and plan to move there about the middle of November. They will no longer have a home in Weston, Mass., but expect to spend the summer months in a cottage on Nantucket Sound in South Chatham, on Cape Cod.
Bob and Catherine Weinig missed the Reunion but did get to New Hampshire in July for a summer stay at the Spalding Inn Club in Whitefield. On the way they visited their son Bob (Dartmouth '52) who lives in West Falmouth, Mass., and is vice president of Eastern Gas and Fuel in Boston.
Norm Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, is retired president of Osborn Manufacturing Co. and a trustee emeritus of Denison University, from he which he graduated and where he also received an Alumni Citation earlier this year.
Pete and Ginie Haffenreffer had to miss our fall gathering because of a trip to France to celebrate an important birthday.
Bud and Sally Petrequin also had an October trip abroad scheduled, to Tunisia, Yugoslavia, and Malta.
William S. Edgerly, son of our late classmate Stuart Edgerly, was this year elected head of the State Street Bank and Trust Co. of Boston. He is also a director of the Arkwright-Boston Insurance Co., a member of the corporation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a trustee of the Committee for Economic Development and of the Children's Hospital Medical Center.
About the time of our Reunion in June the "Endpaper" page of the Sunday New York Times magazine was devoted to a clarification of the economic situation by the Dr. Seuss Surveys, properly illustrated.
Following his relinquishing of other responsibilities Lloyd Brace retired this year as a director of the American Telephone and Telegraph Co.
Frank and Corinne Kennedy enjoyed several weeks in Norway this past summer including an 11-day cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes beyond the North Cape.
Carl Bridenbaugh, already the author of seven books bearing on the American Revolution, has this year had published "Silas Downer: Forgotten Patriot, His Life and Writings."
Jerry Greenbaum of Scarsdale, N.Y., waited longer than most of us to retire, but did so this past year after 43 years with Consolidated Litho Corp. Winters he goes to St. Maarten Island in February and in other seasons does some fishing in Maine.
Walt and Helene Vom Lehn went to Santa Fe, N.M., for several weeks to visit grandchildren. They made it via Amtrak both ways and Walt reports that the trains were comfortable, clean, on time, and the food excellent. He says also that the train crews were "on the ball" and intent on making the trip enjoyable for the passengers.
Roger Johnson only made one day of the 50th Reunion because he and his wife were also attending her 50th at Wheaton on the same weekend. Roger is working part of the time now with the Virginia College Building Authority which helps to finance projects for Virginia private colleges.
In September Larry Leavitt and Bob McKennan made their usual journey to northern Maine for a few days of bird hunting.
It has been a year of anniversaries for Fordand Gertie Whelden. Their 50th was shortly after our reunion in June, when Ford gave the 50-Year Address. In September Ford honored Gertie with a bang-up birthday party at the D.O.C. House on Occom Pond in Hanover, attended by many friends.
Tom Frost and his wife have sold their ranch high in the mountains of Montana and bought a small tract of land near the village of Fishtail where they are building another house which they expect to occupy soon after the first of the year.
