It's May, midway through the 1975 Alumni Fund drive and one month shy of our 10th Reunion. Thus far, from all indications, both will be successful due to that key ingredient, your participation.
We're more than half way toward our Alumni Fund goal of $40,000 set by Head Agent CalebLoring, and only about 15% of us have contributed. When the rest of us pitch in, our ambitious goal should be achieved, with some to spare. The beneficiary - Dartmouth.
And from what Reunion Co-Chairman DonGraves and Steve Lanfer report, at least 200 '66s can be expected in Hanover between June 13-15. Don't come for the activities, the bands, the picnic, the Glee Club, President Kemeny, Dartmouth Row, or the Connecticut River. Come only to renew old friendships. That's reason enough.
John Arnold's hoping to take time off from his newly-assumed responsibilities as manager of college training for the Harris Bank, Chicago, to attend Reunion. For the past year, Arnold, a vice president, had been on special assignment to the head of the Banking Department.
Mead Over is a research assistant at the Health Economics Research Center at the University of Wisconsin while he works towards a Ph.D. in economics and Eileen (Mrs. Over since 1972) earns a doctorate in French. Next fall they'll both be teaching at Williams College.
Dan and Robin Gulden have just concluded "a year off' from life in Washington, D.C. They spent six months working on a kibbutz in Israel and six more travelling through Iran, Asia, and Australia. Now Dan's back where he started from - the chief counsel's office of the Internal Revenue Service.
Also in Washington is Gus King, now counsel, subcommittee on alcoholism and narcotics, along with Edie, Angus II, 4, and Duncan, 2. And Dick Reed, an attorney in the Appellate Section, Criminal Division, Department of Justice. Jennifer Reed keeps herself busy - as staff assistant to James Lynn, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Nearby is Class President Al Ryna, an associate with Williams, Connolly & Califano.
Bill Roberts has completed his fifth year with the recording and statistical unit of Sperry Rand in Boston . . . Robert Morgan is resident designer at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Wendy is at the Law School of the University of California, Berkeley . . . Pete Van Den Steenhoven is into wholesale flowerbulb importing as owner of the West Coast Bulb Company and into politics, as a Santa Monica, Calif., city councilman.
Lot's of news from Steve Kanfer. He's got a new car, a new house in the state of Washington, a new job as senior financial analyst at International Paper Co., and, as of February 25, a new son Stefan.
Mike McConnell is headquartered in the Boston Consulting Group at 1 Boston Place. But he's also a man on the move. Germany, Australia, and Tokyo in the past month. And Mike's consulting career may have been aided by his recently awarded Ph.D. in Operations and Systems Analysis from Stanford. Mike and Mary are expecting their second child in June.
There's plenty more news about us, the Class of 66, but its always better firsthand, from your classmates, at Reunion. See you there.
