We are indebted to Charlie Huntley and Chuck Field for information contained in the obituary of Fred Thompson. Charlie began a lifelong correspondence when Fred went to Florida after his health broke down in 1930, and both of them were interested in the citrus industry. Fred was Chuck's closest friend in college, and they worked together in the Outing Club.
Easter Sunday we had a nice visit with Jimand Katherine Picken at the Greenbrier at White Sulphur Springs where we had all been enjoying a Chessie shareholders house party for several days. Exactly 50 years ago that week he had been on a southern trip with the Dartmouth baseball team. Jim preferred to talk about having a reunion of that great basketball team which won the championship in 1927. Jim promised to come to fall reunion October 10-11. Three days later his heart stopped.
We are sorry to report the deaths of Reynolds Guyer, March 19, Paul G. Woelfel, March 23, James E. Picken Jr., April 2, and Ros Nichols, April 19.
