Howie Mullin corrects your secretary - "Sykes Hardy has both a winter and summer address. He will continue his local residence here in the penthouse at 1242 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. I expect him m mid-April and hope to take some of his green on the sward."

Peregrinations of '27ers expand as more and more hit the "pasture" age. ChuckBaker writes, "after the fall reunion we went to Majorca with members of the Ohio Bar. As we covered the ocean in a matter of hours, we thought of your patience in making the trip by boat — as romantic as your pictures made the trip seem. As a result of our trip, we missed Bob and Peggy Stevens when they came through Painesville on their way to St. Louis. Spent holidays with our daughters in New York and New Jersey. Ginny threw a cocktail party in Mountainside where we had a chance to chat with Ed and Ruth Baker. We are off to Naples Fla."

More from Howie Mullin — "Fall Reunion with Princeton game in Hanover should produce a good class rally. This will be the only major class event of 1970 - let's make it a good one."

Glass officers will have their annual meeting in Hanover, May 1 and 2 when '27 will get down to specifics. Bill North will let you know via Speak or these columns. Remem- ber, he agreed to take up this pen pending your sailing secretary's return. Shortly after you read this, the Burys wilt be off via steamer. Retirement seems somehow associated with 65th birthdays. Mine comes May 19 — the Norwegian Steamship Company nicely scheduled the "Sagasfjord" sailing at 4:30 that afternoon for Copenhagen — nearest port to our boat. How do you like that? If all other events of the summer schedule themselves as fortuitously we will really be blessed. One already is an acceptance from Charlie Bartlett to help us get "Passagemaker" to Norway and back. For those of you who may be in Europe this summer, a note to Westport will be forwarded and maybe we could rendezvous on the bank of some French canal. But most important —keep Bill North informed of your comings and goings so he can make these columns what they should be.

Gordon "Smithy" Smith has put his fine talent to bear on your '70-'71 class greetings, and has done his usual great job. If you can't wait to get this annual chuckle, tell Bill North you are advancing your birthday, or better, postponing last year's.

John Munro has recently been named chief of staff at Newport, N. H., Hospital. He has been a general practitioner in the Newport-Lake Sunapee area for some 37 years and previously served as head of staff for twelve years. John, according to word from Newport, recently resumed his practice after a leave for eye surgery.

Charlie — Texas Trombone - Huntley comes through with the word, "We-uns is 'tollable' — next week I'm retiring but will be busy in other fields such as income tax, which is now in full swing. Word from Fred Thompson, our ex-legislator from New Mexico, has him wintering in Puerto Vallarta just up the coast from Acapulco. I note the Florida aggregation had some real cold weather last week, just to remind them of Occom Pond, Happy Hill, and checking quaint gravestones during initiation at 20 below zero. Some contrast to the balmy 77° here and my sun-bath on the porch."

Never did get around to briefing you on the doings of Ben Bell as reported by his wife Mim — just about the busiest '27 couple I know. Mim — Belmont High — Wellesley — has become a pillar of the state of Vermont — state president of American Association of University Women — Governors Commission on the Status of Women; Ben — Director of Rutland Historical Society and giver away of brides at two weddings last year. Bells have a summer (winter) place at Lake Bomoseen (shades of Alexander Woollcott) went camping in the Mission Moun- tains of Montana — and in general, had quite an active '69. If '70 compares, suggest they give you a first-hand report at Fall Reunion.

Doane Arnold reports that he and Marie can't make Europe this year — their son Walter is engaged and is getting married late June in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Incidentally, you desert buffs, the Arnolds have some sort of Arizona project underway.

Ed Jacob — "your postcard 'pined' (!) for news so here goes. Had a happy talk today in Miami with Lew Beyer. He had a clench (?) from flu — hospital and all — but is back in his office now. He's eyeing the general idea of somewhat retirement. Dorothy and I will be back in West Chester, Pa., by April 1 for infernal revenoo matters and will start shuttling to Maine in June. I can report a bleaching belfry but no bush on face — my normal resistance to progress, of course."

Other Pennsylvania notes — Doc Harvey is now in St. Davids, Apt. 308, Regency Apts. What does this connote, Doc — are you tired of pushing a lawn mower?

Reg Vincent, who retired earlier this last year as v.p. of First National City Bank of New York, couldn't stand idleness apparently, and has become special representative for the correspondent banking department of Peoples Trust of New Jersey, Hackensack.

The Easter Blizzard of '70 in the East, saw the Burys on their way to Heritage Village in Southbury, Conn., the new digs of Ken and Ruth Murray . Bob Mix was supposed to show but, apparently, got snowbound. Net was a pleasant visit, a mid-winter New Hampshire drive and a couple of recruits, the Murrays hope to join us in the French canals.

A number of '27ers turned out at the New York Dinner to welcome John Kemeny and a resounding welcome it was. All of us were convinced the College is under outstanding leadership and will be an exciting place in the immediate years ahead. Group included Ory Herwitz, Van Wie Ingham, who is handling P. R. for Rutgers, Ed Baker, Brick Stone, Dud Bonsai, Sam Wormser, and your secretary. Brick is retiring at the end of this year and will travel alternately between their place in Chatham, Mass., and New York. Dud says judges don't retire, they just fall off the bench.

Saw Seth Besse for a minute - still looks like he belongs in '47 not '27. Have a happy summer, keep your schedule open for Fall Reunion, and communication channels open to Bill North, Box 216, Dublin, N. H.
