PUBLIC NOTICE NUMBER ONE: I received a nice long letter from Stan Silverman, telling me that he had mailed me his files - but only after his wife Mabel had apparently done most of the work. At least you read my column, Stan! Thank you, Mabel and Stan - as soon as I get to Wilmette, I'll go through the, "three weighty packages" you sent. Stan, after 2½ years with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, is now director of public relations for the Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged. Jerry Danzig and Clarence Davies are on the board of trustees, so Stan is really working for two classmates." The JHHA is a voluntary, non-profit institution for elderly men and women offering various levels of health care, keyed to individual needs and capabilities to some 1500 residents and 200 out-patients." Stan has the job of, "making clear the differences between the non-profit and for-profit 'homes' and why their method of operation is preferable and entitled to continuing public support." Good for you, Stan, and lots of luck. Thanks for your letter and the tips therein. I appreciate it.
Ted Gregory wrote me a fine note, and enclosed a card showing what he is doing in retirement. Ted is a trustee for the White Mountain Museum of Forest History, and writes, "The first dividend of my retirement as Trustee was to get snowed-in in Hanover for two days at the Hanover Inn. Spent a happy visit at the computer center where a very bright student explained the workings of the Monster. One can even play it in chess or bridge. Saw the dress rehearsal of the Carnival play - really great - and had a good visit at Sanborn House and Baker. Liked what Betty and I saw and think the girls are a great addition." Thanks for the note, Ted, and for the clipping indicating the revival of Zeta Psi at Yale. Hope the movement spreads.
Sorry this is shorter than usual, but I had to write it a bit early, so we can get packed and out of here. See you from Wilmette next month, and I could use some comments from all who wish to help me keep others up to date.
