Most of you have probably read of the troubles at South Boston High School due to the Federal Court desegregation order requiring busing of children outside of their district to this school. What you may not know is that the headmaster of this school is none other than BillReid of our class. The September 16 issue of TheBoston Globe had a four column story and a 5 x 7 picture of Bill. It was as fine a tribute to the man who, and I quote The Globe, "runs a Tight Ship at South Boston High." One special tribute to Bill in the article, comes from Dr. Richard Bradley, executive director of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. He views Bill as, "one of the most knowledgeable school administrators I've ever met." Nice going and congratulations.

A few comings and goings I hope you will find interesting. Chuck Kehoe (Key Largo, Fla.) has liquidated his excellent construction business and has retired. He bought a boat and has been cruising the Caribbean.

Maurry O'Connor, Pomona, Calif., missed our great 40th to join a group of lawyers on a charter trip over the Pole to Scandinavia.

That area had another visitor from our class. Art Erickson and his wife have just returned. Art has retired, and lives in Millington, N.J. Incidentally, my wife June and I took a ten day charter trip to Copenhagen and have also just returned. Something about those Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians that is pretty fascinating.

Herb Heston, Northampton, Mass., retired in April. He had a successful career as fund raiser for Smith College - must have gotten the idea way back in freshman year, when he was frequently seen going down Highway 5, for a weekend at Smith!!

Two classmates have moved to Marco Island, Fla., and in case you don't know the other one is there, your names are, Witt McConnochie and Noel Maxam. Get together guys and then drop me a note for the column!!!

Russ Smart has moved to Canada and can be reached at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. Saw. Tom Hicks at a recent party and he was on his way to Mexico on business. Comes word that Herman Chase attended the semi-annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the New Hampton School. Herm graduated from there and came to Dartmouth. He is a professor of biology at Brown University and is chairman of the Institute of Life Sciences. Nice going. AH for now see you next month and I sure would like to have any or all of you write me all about yourselves and other classmates so we can share the information with the rest of the Class.
