If it were not for the definition of the word - to preclude belief - "incredible" would certainly be the appropriate adjective to describe the 1975 Dartmouth Alumni Fund campaign. Although we embarked on this year's campaign with confidence that we could reach our ambitious goal, the achievement of $4,201,594 from 21,857 donors stands as a tribute to the loyalty and generosity of Dartmouth's friends.
There are so many great accomplishments listed on the following pages that to single out any is to be unfair, but at that risk, I would like to particularly salute and thank:
• the 12 reunion classes which raised $1,750,000 - 42% of the total
• the Class of 1950 which set a new standard for all reunion classes of $500,005 - which they hope will soon be broken
• the Class of 1925 with an equally astounding $404,000 - an average of $1,243 for each class member
• the intrepid non-reunion classes which do far better than their Ivy counterparts. Four classes - 1926, 1940, 1954 and 1953 in that order exceeded $70,000
• the six anonymous Challenge donors whose offer was oversubscribed by six to one and whose summons in early June triggered an unprecedented surge in the final weeks
• the 1,392 parents whose gifts totaled $93,460
• the 3,810 agents who worked to make this campaign so successful
I must admit that I assumed the chairmanship a year ago with a certain degree of concern as to how we might better 1974's excellent results. At this writing, my worry is for 1976! However, as we now look forward to the '76 campaign, my concern is tempered with the knowledge that Dartmouth alumni have a unique knack of answering their college's call. It is my strong conviction that by helping keep Dartmouth financially strong, we are contributing in a very real way to the future welfare of our nation and our way of life.

New Endowment Funds for the Alumni Fund
There are now 326 endowment funds, totaling over $5 million, which have been established over the years by individuals and classes to yield income to the Alumni Fund. The majority of these funds are already producing income for the Alumni Fund; the remainder will do so after reservation of life income. This year, individually named funds yielded $93,770 which was divided among the classes of the donors or the persons memorialized. Nineteen named funds were established during 1974-75 designed to yield income to the Alumni Fund either immediately or after reservation of income for life. The new funds are:

Some last minute figuring is done by Charley Moore, '25's prime mover, as Ford Whelden studies his notes for the 50-year address.
Green Derby winners - senior and junior - Len Reade '17 contemplates the results with pleasure - Jeff McElnea '71 snags one more contributor.
As (l to r) Jack Harned, President Kemeny and Sandy McCulloch look on in obvious satisfaction, Bob Kilmarx announces 1950's record-breaking half-million dollar total.
Last minute telethons were an important part of the June surge. Two undergraduates helped out in San Francisco. Franca Taylor '78 calls while her father, David Taylor '50, and Tim Behr '77 kibitz.
