It seems like a long time ago, and it'll seem longer by the time you read this column, but I must start off with congratulations to head agent Al Dodd for the-great job he and his assistants did with the Alumni Fund. We came very close to a very high objective and raised more than any class in our group!

I now live close to Hanover so that many College contacts are open to me, such as the 75th anniversary celebration of the Tuck School, a two-day affair with many noted participants. Woody and Helen Curtis were there from Moline, Ill., and, of course, Ernie Draper, assistant dean for alumni affairs, was on the job.

George Colton retired on schedule as noted in our last issue. He and Ruth spent most of the summer on Monhegan Island off the Maine coast before returning to help master-mind our fall reunion.

Alumni College brought two classmates back this summer. We visited and golfed with Louand Harriet Bookheim and Bob and AudreyRichter. Lou continues his New York law practice, and Bob has a while to go as comptroller of Asarco. Bob is a tub-thumper for his Exeter class and recently attended a reunion there with Bud Cahoon, Bill Clark, Joe Fellows, and HuntHarrison.

Class president Harry Ferries must be the busiest retiree in the class. Not long ago we recorded his visit to Mexico and a stop-over with Howie Croninger. This summer Harry and Anne, with two grandsons, drove through Belgium, Holland, and Denmark, and cruised the Baltic for two weeks. At home he's "mayor" of Heritage Village, keeping people like Reg andBabs Bankart in line.

In July Bob Hage attended the national conference of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administration in Washington, where, to his surprise, he was not the only 1935 representative. Meta Kirsch, widow of Russ, is director of financial aid at Atlanta Junior College. She has three sons: Michael, who holds a doctorate in economics from Florida State; David, a graduate of University of Georgia now in the Navy; and Paul, a student at Berry College.

One day last summer Polly and I visited the annual show of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen, where one very original photograph caught her eye. Imagine our surprise to read that the artist's name was Jack Parfitt of Manchester! He and Dee had several fine works on display.

Wiley Hubbell writes from Roanoke that earlier in the year he did some golfing in Florida but didn't run into other '35ers. He has met our former dean Brewster (now President of Hollins College) who is very well liked as we would all expect.

Neil Roberts is one who still does a day's work. Chief executive officer of United Bank of Colorado, Inc., he keeps an eye on 19 banks, a mortgage company, an insurance company, and an insurance agency plus serving on the international board of Master Charge. Pretty busy but still time for him and Lee to make an eighth annual European trip in May!

Dick Stern is moving to Southbury, Conn., leaving Manhattan and management consulting after 41 years. He and Jimmey look forward to the charms of the country, gardening and woodworking. Daughter Liz is married and working in the Psychology Dept. at Stanford University. Her husband is an engineer at Stanford Research Institute.

Jerry Wertz has retired but is busier than ever as director of a community center and part-time carpenter remodeling his daughter's house. He and Ann have three grand-daughters.

Maury Rapf has been in Hanover all summer teaching film courses in the drama department. He returns in the fall to commuting to New York from their home in Westhampton Beach.

Earl and Jane Arthurs are enjoying their condominium in Charlotte. One floor with electronically filtered air greatly helps her lung condition. Earl continues to be very involved with pensions.
