Suddenly it's fall after another short, short summer. By the time this appears in print the golf clubs will be lying idle in the back of the closet again and the Ivy League football race should be heating up. Ah, well. I trust everyone returned to office and shop refreshed from vacation pleasures.

Way back before summer arrived, Morgan Guaranty Trust Company ran a large ad in TheNew York Times prominently featuring an excellent photo of '47's own Larry Steuber who heads the metropolitan banking group at the company's Park Avenue office. Larry has been working for Morgan Trust for about 30 years it was his first and only job.

Then in late June the times ran another announcement, this one from Lebenthal and Company, municipal bond dealers. It reported the election of H. Gerard Bissinger II, as president and Gerry's wife, Eleanor, as executive vice president. Talk about a corporate image!

I'm going to need some help on news. Please let me know what's new with you and the family. Meanwhile, some short items of interest.

Townes Harris' good wife Joan received her degree from Wellesley in May. A member of the class of '52, she left after her junior year to marry our late classmate Bill Wood. She's a great believer in continuing education and so decided to do something about it. Her family is very proud of her accomplishment, naturally.

If anyone is headed for Chicago soon, ThornWierum invites him to stop in and say hello. "After 22 years in Westport, Conn., have moved. Still with J.W.T. (J. Walter Thompson Agency) but have new job and title - too long to write. Will be traveling to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Think Class of '50 'Green House' great idea. Be glad to have any 1947 sons or daughters or mothers or fathers stop at 2440 North Lakeview Avenue."

A release from United Way of Massachusetts Bay tells of the appointment of Dr. RichardEgdahl as Medical Services Division chairman for the 1976 fund-raising campaign. His job is to be chief liaison with physicians and hospital employes in the Massachusetts Bay area. He is academic vice president for health affairs at Boston University and a director at the Boston University Medical Center.

Dick Menin has been accepted as a member of the exclusive 1976 Five Million Dollar Forum. The impressive honor means he had qualified sales in excess of $5 million during 1975 and has displayed "an intense and active desire to improve the unique services required in the business, tax, and financial environment of today's world." Richard B. Menin, consultant, is located at 666 Fifth Ave.

Some insurance news concerning' Richard F.Hill: He lives in Moody, Me., and during the summer he was selected to participate in an advanced pension seminar of his firm, National Life Insurance Company of Vermont. He also won membership in the firm's 1976 President's Club, which allowed him to attend the club's educational conference in September in Colorado Springs, Colo.

I can't close without giving Alan Epstein a well-deserved pat on the back for another tremendous job as class agent. As Al pointed out in his "Well Done!" report to all, the participation percentage for the class was the second best of seven classes in our group. And '47s contributed $32,306, an increase of more than $1,100 over the previous year.
