After consulting with the three "Wise men" and our official astrologer, we perceive that the following men whose birthdays chance to fall in December were born under the sign'of Sagittarius, the Archer, Donovan and Hallett, whereas Gardner, Wheelock, and Edson were born under the sign of Capricomus, the Goat. As a result of these fortuitous circumstances they are entitled to receive all of the goodies of the season which are their due and the hearty congratulations of all of the members of our class.
(Fortunately no member of the Class was born under the sign of the Scapegoat.)
For some time it has been the policy of the publications department of the College to restrict the length of class notes of the older classes each month to 400 words. Beginning with this issue we shall try to abide by this rule.
The following letters were sent to LizeWheelock along with the class dues:
Lucy (Mrs. C.A.P.) Lawrence writes, "I am delighted to send you my class dues. I enjoy every thing that is sent to me from Dartmouth so much and especially the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Carl and I used to enjoy reading it together and I continue to keep up my interest. Our grandson, Bobby Curry, is a sophomore at Dartmouth now, so, of course, I am especially interested."
Mary E. (Mrs. Arthur H.) Dearing, writes, "I receive the ALUMNI MAGAZINE regularly and enjoy it thoroughly. I have been living in Altamonte Springs, Fla., but I find the climate too depressing, so I am leaving, this coming month, and I shall send my permanent address later."
Katherine (Mrs. Hazen B.) Hinman writes, "This is a bit later than I intended to answer your letter of last month but things seem to have a way of happening that prevent 'slow-motionme' from living up to my good intentions. Today, however, I am not going to let that happen, so I enclose my check for class dues.
"I always look forward to receiving both the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE and the excellent 1914 Class News Letter.
"I hope that you and Mrs. Wheeler have a most enjoyable and beneficial Florida vacation this winter. Please extend my best wishes also to all of Hazen's classmates with whom you come in contact. You all surely deserve your title 'The Famous Class of 1914.'
"P.S. I have just returned from a necessary visit to the Boston Eye Clinic this week.
"While in Boston we visited the Arvest Galleries, Inc., where some of James Colway's beautiful art is on exhibition. I believe that you and Mrs. Wheelock and interested friends would enjoy seeing his work. His 'Weather Vane' picture has been chosen for the November cover of Yankee Magazine."
