We were too busy this fall splitting wood and de-fleaing the yellow Labs to have kept good book on the faithful who made it to Hanover for the four home football games, but we did emerge for Harvard weekend festivities, October 15-16. The newsletter carried the names of those sitting on their tails (gates, that is), so we'll just talk about the executive committee which met in heavy session Friday afternoon.

Present were presiding president Ezz Hale, Homer Bogart, Tommy Donnelly, Dave Eckels, Clark MacGregor, Johnny Morse, ChuckRichardson, and Fritz Hier. Lots of minutes, treasurer's reports, status reports, activities reports - all too lengthy to report on. Accolades went to Dave E. though, for his efforts in getting handrails and ramps for the handicapped installed around the campus. And there was talk of a Class tent and an Old Class Tie and possible regional '44 meetings throughout the year. A luncheon in NY City seemed a good place to start; watch your WallStreet Journal for an announcement of time and place.

Club officers came to town October 22-23 for meetings and things, and four '44s and spouses answered roll-call: Jack and Vinnie Jenness (enrollment liaison officer, Long Island club), Andy and Kitty McDowell (public information chairman, Rochester, N.Y., club), Al and JeanWinkler (president, Southeastern Conn, club), and Betty and Karl Musser (she is secretary of the Boston Dartmouth Women's Club - a first in '44 annals).

You won't be surprised to hear that the Springfield, Mass., Democratic Women's Club had the good sense to pick our own Stan-theman-Zarod as "Outstanding Democrat of the Year." I'm not sure whether that includes Jimmie Carter, too, but anyway Stan was appropriately wined and dined and toasted at the club's annual dinner.

Dr. Brad Campbell down there in Holden, Mass., has given up his OB practice to concentrate on gynocology, and he and wife Carol are "bouncing around in our big house" now that the five kids are out and about. Daughter Paula has made them grandparents twice, Brad '70, in addition to his job is taking courses at Clark U. in Worcester, Janet is at Colby-Sawyer and was married in November, Steve is married and attending American U. in D.C., and Nancy is at U. Mass.

As for investment broker Fred Cohn up there around Buffalo, he's got three of his four daughters through college and the last one, Michele, is at Macalester in St. Paul, Minn., the place where a fellow name of Mondale went - Fritz Mondale I think it is . . . Fred, in Hanover this past summer with son Jim for a Dartmouth interview, says that his family is New England oriented - the girls in Maine and Boston, a sister near Hanover and summer vacations on Cape Cod. The gadabout Cohns, incidentally, have lived in the same house for the past 30 years.

Reporting in from Manchester Center, Vt., are Budd and Carol Welsh to say that they finally made the move last April from insurance in New Jersey to hosting in Vermont. They took over the Montclair Motel and renamed it the Aspen and now you have a choice when you're in that area - Budd's Aspen or HankMarshall's Iron Kettle Hotel just down the road a piece.

Further bits on '44 youngsters on campus: Bob and Ann Conroy's Kim '76 is a member of the faculty Committee on Educational Planning; Dan and Arlene Donovan's Mary Ellen '76 is working at the College's Environmental Studies Center and doubling as co-editor of this year's student Course Guide; Phil Puchner's Chris '75 is back on campus after two years seeing the world, and he is in what the geologists refer to as the "stretch" phase of that major, which includes field work in the southwest, volcanos in Central America, and living off campus on Mascoma Lake with a strata of other geology students.

Another nine '44 undergraduates (and 13 guests) came to the annual fall cookout organized by Eckels and Hier and joined by Boband Anne McLaughry. They were: Rick Mayberry '75 (Tuck '77), Dave Howe '76, John Bird '77, Barbara Donnelly '77, Rich Daley '78, Paul Storfer '77, and Peter and Steve Storfer '80.

Oh yes, the Chalet Motor Lodge in White River Junction is holding 30 rooms for us October 21-22, 1977, the weekend of the Cornell game. And we'll be at the DOC House after the game for drinks ai.d dinner.

That's it. Blessings
