The first signs of an early spring are in the air in Hanover attendent with a resurgence of hope and high spirits around the campus. No doubt we will be cruelly inflicted with another snow storm or two, but I find even false hopes are welcome in early April in upper New England.

Word has come to me somewhat belatedly, but certainly worth of note, that Robert L.Shade was honored posthumously by the National Association of Insurance Agents (NAIA) at their convention last fall in Hawaii. Bob was selected as the recipient of the Woodworth Memorial Award which is the highest honor that NAIA can bestow on a member agent. The award is given to the member who has performed the most outstanding service for the insurance business. The award had not been given for three years and was never before given posthumously. Those of us who were fortunate to know Bob well will not be surprised with this news but terribly pleased by such recognition of his talents and generous spirit.

Some of you may recall noting last fall that Rick and Betty Shambroon captured the class baby prize for having just produced a son Matthew Phillip. A recent note from Rick in- dicates they successfully made it through the 2 o'clock feedings and a simple smile or two has made it all worthwhile. Any more contenders for this coveted award?

We had a nice note from Bill Scherer who moved not long ago from Southern Caiifornia to Lafayette, La. Bill is commuting 23 miles south to Opelousas, La., where he works as director of commodity operations for Lou Ana Foods, Inc. Bill and Grace celebrated their 27th anniversary last fall as well as the marriage of their daughter Vicki last spring and "are now enjoying the quite charm (and clean air) of southern Louisiana."

Word recently came too that Ed Martin and family have moved to Bellevue, Wash. Ed Joined Exxon Nuclear Co. out there and was also pleased to report that their daughter Ellen had gained early admission to Dartmouth. Chalk up another alumnus pleased with the move to coeducation, which is also a nice note to end on.
