Ray Seymour, one of our most loyal members of the Class, died September 22 at his home in New York City. He was buried in Pittsfield, Mass., where Ray and Sally summered for many years. Sally died in 1976. Margaret Dorr,Allen’s widow, who lives in Pittsfield, attended the funeral and sent me the clipping from TheBerkshire Eagle about Ray’s death, and I sent it on to the College for Ray’s obituary, which appeared in last month’s issue.

I wrote a letter to Howard Bushway (second oldest in the Class to Guy Carpenter) to his home in West Newton, Mass., and received a reply from his legal guardian, George Richard- son ’l5, saying that Howard was now living in the Pioneer Valley Nursing Home, 548 Elm Street, Northampton, Mass. 01060.
A cheerful letter came from Pineo Jackson in October with clips from the New York Times, including details of great Dartmouth football plays with a clear slate so far.
Bones Jones and Rena will be in Naples, Fla., again this winter during January and February. Karen and I will drop in on them occasionally while we are on Sanibel Island. Bones recalls the good old days in Hanover when he and CharlieFay washed dishes and advanced to waiting on table at Orrell’s Eating Club. Students paid $5.00 for 21 meals per week. Each table seated ten, and waiters were responsible for keeping the seats filled. If a table got down below eight, Orrell’s got a new waiter. Waiters wore white coats with large side pockets, one for silver and the other for baked potatoes. Charlie Fay said later that Bones learned the restaurant business at Orrell’s, and that is why he was such a successful restauranteur for many years at Schrafft’s.
Lenny McClintock, Bunny Armstrong, and I had the same experience at the old Pillsbury Eating Club in Hanover, but Lenny wore his long green Class football sweater with larger pockets for the baked potatoes. Tilly Elliott, Mike’s widow, reports via postal card from Africa an interesting but exhausting trip.
I sent greetings from the Class to President Kemeny on Dartmouth Night, scheduled for October 21, the night before the Cornell game.
