Last fall to be exact, October 21 the Class of 1916 was the lead class in the big torchlight parade at the annual Dartmouth Night in Hanover, with our own Dick Parkhurst first in line. Cars were furnished by the College for those from classes 1916 through 1925, but our Dick marched the entire route from Lebanon Street around the campus to Dartmouth Hall, which was bathed in the light of a full moon. It must have been a gorgeous sight.
Word is from Hiram and Laura McLellan that they will again be traveling this winter, which must give them the record for the greatest number of miles traveled by any member of 1916.
Here is a round-robin of a letter and ad- dresses that came to Dan Lindsley in Sierra Madre, Calif. The letter was dated in Sao Paulo, Brazil, postmarked in Rochester, N.Y., from Anne Thieme Wallis, the stepdaughter of the widow of our Bob Thieme, Aleene, who lives in Sun City, Ariz. (almost sounds like the game of Monopoly).
Card came this fall from Mary Nash (Mrs.Willard O.) passing along Bill’s best wishes to all. Bill is at the Nursing Home, Amherst, Mass. 01002.
Margery Graver (Mrs. Edgar A.) brings us up to date: Last spring was a banner year for the Gravers, with six graduations. Marge attended three, the one in Dartmouth being special. Then last summer at the Craver family reunion, 31 out of the 34 members gathered at the lake with the long name in Webster, Mass. They came from Norway, Italy, and all parts of the U.S.A.
Fletch Andrews, who has been kept close to his Cleveland Heights home these past few years, flew to Bermuda to be with his son for a few weeks.
To all 1916ers and the ladies of 1916 we send our best wishes for 1978. While the New Year cannot lighten the loads brought on by age, may it bring comfort and companionship during the year for those suffering the hazards of health that seem to arrive in our 80-plus years.
