Steve mentioned Winter Carnival 1979 in his last column and this winter has certainly been reminiscent of that time. Here on Long Island we have had snow and frigid temps since early December. I checked around the country's other northern climes to see if the weather was any better. Steve Faber, in frosty Minnesota, sends news of Jay Miller who, with his wife, was at the reunion this past June. He is pres./CEO of Vital Images, which is one of the fastest growing companies in Minnesota. Steve also sent more news about Todd Markman, who recently accepted the position of president of Premier Bank in Faribault, Minnesota. Premier is a good-sized midwestern bank with a number of branches in the Twin Cities. Todd grew up in Faribault; married his local sweetheart, returned to Faribault and, Steve informs me, is sort of a town-father figure at the moment.

JJ Hanley says the weather is no better in Chicago where she runs into Dave Winchester, who has a busy surgery practice on the North Shore. JJ tells me she can attest to his fine repu- tation and professional skill first hand! Bruce Weissberg has been busy in chilly Chicago, where he is opening Dunkin Donut stores in gas sta- tions and convenience stores. Eric Miller is in Boston, another cold spot, and he is in a fine mood despite the extreme temps because the Pa- triots won the Super Bowl! He recently got to- gether with buddies George Thompson and Tex Strawn. Tex, who lives in Texas, recently had his fourth child, a son named...Eric. Big E assumes this honor was bestowed upon the child because he is so good looking! George lives in Westborough, Massachusetts, and is head legal counsel for UNUM insurance. Eric tells me John Donohoe is living in the San Francisco area and is CEO of Bain and Cos.; Mike Donoghue is with Morgan Stanley in New York and keeps very busy with his five children in Darien, Connecticut; and Steve Stone is running Steralite Industries in Massachusetts, where he lives with his wife and children. I caught up with Ron Lohner, who has his own private plastic surgery practice in Philadelphia. Ron keeps busy with his new home outside Philly, which he is renovating in between visits to South and Central America, where he donates his time and his professional skills to children with special surgical needs. Eric Miller is heading up the 25 th reunion and asks you all to put June 14-17,2007, on your calendars now!

I received news from Hanover regarding classmate and Illinois junior senator Peter Fitzgerald, who will exit early next year after one term in office and who will likely reenter the business world in order to spend more quality time with his family. But don't be too shocked if he resur- faces as a viable gubernatorial candidate in 2006. Fellow'82 Tony Lupien recendy joined Geographic Data Technology Inc., a developer of premier map databases, as managing director, federal government, his brief to expand GDT s presence in federal digital mapping projects.Tony's career comes full circle, as he began his career with GDT as a software developer in the early 19 80s. In between Tony held positions of increasing responsibility at Advatica, Integration Technologies and Roadnet Technologies, honing his experience in bringing GIS solutions to customers in a variety of industries. Looks like he's put his Dartmouth B.A. and University of South Carolina master's in geography to good use!

I just returned from 10 sunny days in Key Largo with my husband and two daughters. Alas, we woke up this morning to, yes, more snow!
