Recapping the program for the reunion, it begins informally on Sunday, June 12, at the end of Commencement Weekend, with a Dutch treat afternoon cocktail party in Gile, Streeter or Lord, where we will stay. Dorms will not be open for occupancy on Sunday, as previously reported, but public accommodations are available. Dorms will be open to the Class on Monday.
On Monday, the 13th, tent will be in full swing by the Gold Coast, free beer and set-ups as usual, and evening piano 8 - ? Thayer, Tuck and the Med School are sponsoring luncheons for their alumni. The alumni dinner occurs this night, followed by informal visiting at the President's garden. There is an optional Glee Club concert that evening (and the tent will be serenaded by the Dartmouthaires).
Events Tuesday include a campus update and a Q-and-A session with President Kemeny, a clambake, class cocktail party and dinner, and evening piano at the tent. Golf and tennis tournaments begin Monday and continue through the reunion. The evening includes another Glee Club concert and further serenading. On Wednesday a panel on current topics for us and for '42 and '43, who also reune the 12th-15th, takes place in the morning. Throughout the reu- nion the College will run a party for classmates' children. In all, Hanover is as elegant a place to be in June as ever, and if a family wants to skip some of the scheduled events, there is plenty otherwise to do, including hiking, swimming, tennis, the Hopkins Center theater and workshops, golf and sightseeing in a handsome area.
The chief financial officer for the reunion special alumni fund drive, Bill Cashel, has recently become vice, chairman and chief financial officer of American Telephone & Telegraph Co. In light of the added effort made by each reuning class, Bill and his committee are seeking moneys running to six figures. Stocks, other securities, works of art, oil wells and valuable documents are welcome but, most of all, Bill emphasizes, the committee is seeking cash.
One classmate said he's done next to nothing in the past for the Alumni Fund, but by happy circumstance, while on a visit to Hanover, he spent part of a day with a number of students. He then did a 180-degree turn and gave the Fund $10,000 Would that others could have parallel experiences in Hanover. Bill's committee consists of John Bowers, Dutch Cotton, Bruce Freidlich, Gotch Gotshall, Bud Hart, Dick Hill, Stace Hill, Ed McMillan, Ozzie Mills, Dan Provost and Bill Sleepeck.
