After hobnobbing with the oracle, we have learned that the following men whose birthdays are celebrated in the month of May were born under the sign of Taurus, the Bull: Kingsford, Files, Warren, Paul Smith, MacKinnon, and Sleeper, whereas Main was born under the sign of Gemini, the Twins.
As springtime bursts forth across the land they are entitled to renew their vitality and to receive the congratulations of all of the members of our Class.
Dorothy Sisson writes to tell us that our class chairman, Rufus L. Sisson, passed away on March 9. He had been hospitalized most of the time since coming to Florida in early December, but his desire to go home to Potsdam was so compelling that he was finally permitted to attempt the trip. Rufe got up as far as Binghamton, where he went to sleep and did not wake up. A complete obituary will appear in this or a forthcoming issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE All of the members of the Class extend their sympathy to his survivors.
In each of the two previous winters, your class chairman, secretary, and treasurer, together with their respective wives, have met in Lakeland, Fla., for a luncheon and an officers' meeting. We had looked forward to repeating this procedure sometime during this past winter, but Rufe's illness made this impossible. However, Lize Wheelock, treasurer, and your secretary, with our wives, attended the winter meeting and luncheon of the Sarasota Dartmouth Alumni Club.
Bea (Mrs. Everett) H.) Barnard writes to us from her home in Medford, Mass., in part as follows: "A few weeks ago I was on my way from my home to the grocery store, which is only a short distance away when two boys came running up behind me and, as they went by, grabbed my hand-bag and continued running until they were out of sight. Fortunately I was not harmed and eventually the police found the bag, but billfold, membership cards, personal papers, snapshots, and keys had disappeared. I was furious, to say the least."
Writing from the expanse of R.M.S. QueenElizabeth II with a "Brazil" postmark, Lay Little says, "Ruth and I are enjoying a 21-day cruise to Capetown via South American ports. From Capetown we go on to Johannesburg to visit family. then fly to New York via London where we stop for two days. We assume that you have not suffered from the cold, but it was 20° below zero the night before we left Cornish."
