This month's report is one of short subjects, with many thanks to all of you who have kept me posted.

Newk Stainsby writes he s not yet joining those of us retiring. He's staying active as an insurance agent in Methuen, Mass. Newk and Fran's last child, John Michael, is getting married this April.

John Thomas, in Houston, is also still at work for about another year. He says his travels take him across the country east to west and north to south and "I might as well enjoy it while I can." Lunched with Chuck and Carol Gillan recently. Chuck retired February 1.

Fred and Dottie Haley will be back in Hanover for another graduation in June. Evan follows older brother Mark and dad onto the platform for his diploma this year.

Frank and Edie Specht will be there too as son Tom gets his degree.

Dave and Marj Buxbaum have joined the growing company of classmates spending at least winters in Florida. Dave's son Bob is taking over servicing his dad's clients. At Juno Beach, I'm not sure they know they're neighbors of Will and Fran Ogg! Both look forward to summers in Maine.

Just back from some island-hopping in Hawaii, Larry Sommer is on his second set of paint brushes and "still in the dauber class." His home village, Mendocino, Cal., is in an area similar to the Maine coast. "Had a tea bag revolt against taxes and a concentrated whale war complete with a forty-foot launch to stand off Russian and Jap flotillas."

Bucks Weil reports a second grandchild born March 1. "I miss Hanover usually, but after 7°F in Montgomery [Ala.] thought I was there."

Stan Benson is still working for Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. - now in an administrative position rather than sales. Doesn't travel as much but stays in the main office trying to straighten out the mistakes the younger fellows make!

Al Cline has retired from teaching at a public junior college. Has no intention of a second career, expensive hobbies or moving. He and Gena will stay right where they are in a beautiful home in Walnut, Cal., except for frequent cruises and trips to Maui and Kauai.

Russ and Kay Erwin run Country Cousins Antiques in Vestal, N.Y. Russ has been retired rom secondary school education since 1973. hey buy and sell country things and primitives, travel a good deal and "learn history through antiques. Youngest son, unmarried, in the Army Band. Five grandchildren provided by their older three children.

Carl Crane has moved from Plainfield, N.J., twenty miles west to Whitehouse Station. Has opened a branch office there but is still enjoying an active law practice with a group of younger partners. Has no thoughts of retirement and would be delighted to see classmates buzzing down U.S. Route 22.

A short note drom Arnold Sammis discloses that he .as moved to Holmes Beach, Fla. Sam "retired January 1, 1977, or, more to the point, was driven out by insurance costs, etc."

Another new retiree is Ted Hupper, who has just moved with Pixie to Stuart, Fla. After five years of being based in Richmond they like the open air living and hope to play a role in the new community as they did in Richmond.

Wally and Trace Hodges keep busy in their big old farm house in Rochester, Mich., and a year-round home on Lake Charlevoix. Between them they have five children and six grandchildren. Visited Wallace Hodges '66 in London last fall and will be visited by James Hodges '68 this summer.

Don and Mary Waggaman have a couple of special events coming up. Youngest daughter will marry in June and son Don Jr. gets his master's at Cornell in May. "With these two last jobs done, we are thinking of retiring."

Once again sadly I must report the loss of two classmates, Hank Buck and Lou Niles. Obits will appear in this or a future issue.

In closing, here are the two monthly must reminders! Have you done your share in support of Al Dodd and the Alumni Fund? Have you decided to attend our fall reunion starting Friday afternoon September 23?
