Dean Witter & Company has strengthened its executive ranks with the announcement of the appointment of Bob Woodberry to the position of executive vice president. Bob has been with the San Francisco-headquartered brokerage firm since 1966 and has progressed from manager of the Denver branch to a divisional sales manager, and finally to appointment as national sales director in 1974. Dean Witter & Company is one of the nation's largest investment firms, with 140 offices throughout the United States and abroad. With Bob in its top level of management, it'll probably be the first brokerage firm with its own rugby team!
Our chairman, Dave Mandelbaum, writes that '54 was well-represented at the combination cocktail party and President Kemeny speaking engagement at the Biltmore in New York in March. In attendance were John Heston, Dave Metz, Jerry Goldstein, Tony Kane, Frank Weiser, Dick Davidoff, Hugh Roberts, Bob Riggio, John Gillespie, Frank and Elaine Wright, and of course Dave Mandelbaum. It sounds like half the Class was there.
Through the auspices of our treasurer, DickBarker, we received a letter from long-lost AndyGuilliano from Caracas, Venezuela, where Andy and Nena and their family now live. Andy writes that Bob and Jennie Kirkpatrick visited with them during the carnival season in Caracas in February. Andy describes a rip-roaring time right through the early hours of the morn - dining, feasting, seeing Spanish flamenco dances, and touring the sights of the city with Bob and Jennie. Andy writes "had not seen Kirk in 23 years, and can tell everyone that his visit here with the Guillianos was overwhelming, delightful, and a joyous experience. Hope we can do more of the same with some of the other classmates." Need more be said? If you're in Caracas, look up the Guillianos.
The February 1977 issue of The Journal ofSystems Management carried an article on "Stimulation with programmable calculators" by Perry Davis. Not being technically adept, I can only accept the magazine's description of the article as being accurate. Perry's article apparently dealt with "description techniques for using a hand-held calculator to determine P & L statements instead of full-scale DP facilities." Perry is now information systems director for Church & Dwight, Inc., makers of Arm & Hammer brand products. He has participated in the development and implementation of manual and computer systems for accounting, market research, and management-science applications for business. I think by now Perry has figured out a way for computer systems to replace most of us.
As you all know from looking at your daily mail, it's Alumni Fund time.
