James D. Fox Jr., Ph.D., who is with the aerospace engineering department of the University of Colorado, is at the moment considering the possibility of reversing the westward migration if he and his spouse decide to take positions at Penn State. Jim says it's a far cry from the din of football rallies to his present interest, which is noise pollution for the E.P.A. through the University of Colorado. Some of you may have seen the recent (December) article in National Geographic about the Bryce Canyon National Park and the noise from a proposed coal mine nearby. Jim's work on the noise analysis was a contributing factor to the decision to protect the park. He advises all to enjoy the West now before future energy development gets in the way of its serenity.
