The winter in Westport, Conn., was brightened by a one-man exhibition of portrait and landscape paintings by Clyde Smith. The collection was displayed at The Portrait Gallery in Westport. After graduating from Dartmouth, Clyde spent an additional four years studying at the Art Center of Los Angeles. In 1958, he returned East where he taught at the New York School of Visual Arts. Shortly thereafter, he began free-lancing his drawings and illustrations for magazines, theaters, and department stores. Over the years he has provided drawings for B. Altman's, Good Housekeeping, and Gourmet magazine. He has done theater posters for several Broadway productions and has painted portraits of many distinguished families. Clyde has certainly made a name in the world of contemporary painting.
