By now all of us fortunate enough to have attended '47s 30th reunion, and those of you who missed this great event, will have read the details in the September issue. As that was Sax Fletcher's last column, I would like to express my thanks and admiration for a superlative job over the past years.
Speaking of reunions, I received a note via Sax from Joe Eisaman: "A mini-reunion was held at Butterfields on the Sunset Strip when Gay and Bob Huffman, Ruth and BourkeWelch, and Karen and Joe Eisaman consumed a hogshead of white wine over a delicious dinner, reminiscing over the wonderful 30th reunion and looking at all our photographs." This was another unsolicited testimonial for Hans Chase and his hard-working reunion committee.
I read in a trade paper the other day that fellow grocer Al Bildner has been appointed to the executive committee of the National Joint Labor Management Commission.
Al Stern has joined Scammell Associates Advertising Co. as vice president with responsibility for account supervision and new business development. Besides being an active contributor to a number of advertising and marketing journals, he is also well known in the world of dog breeding and training, serving as a show judge throughout the United States.
Phil Booth was recently enrolled as alumni member in the Dartmouth College Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. He received this distinction for his extensive contributions in the area of literature, especially in the poetry field where he has edited several books and published five of his own works.
The College chapter awards a maximum of two alumni memberships to graduates who have made significant contributions in academic or other intellectual areas.
Bill Baily, president of Aetna Life and Casualty Co., has been nominated as a trustee of Northwest Utilities in addition to his extensive other duties.
Norm Fink, roommate from the old 6 East South days, and more recently development counsel at the University of Pennsylvania, led a seminar on "Estate and Gift Planning" at Muhlenberg College.
To round out this month's column, a wedding announcement: In July Bob Gallagher married Alice Coenen. Bob is a senior vice president of Bache Hasley Stuart Shields Inc., and his bride is a psychotherapist in private practice. Alice graduated from Mount Holyoke College and received a master's degree from the University of Bridgeport. We look forward to meeting you at the next reunion if not sooner.
