During July John and Nancy Walters visited San Francisco. We did everything from Fisher-man's Wharf to a tour of the wine country. One of the items of interest mentioned by John was that the new movie by the National Lampoon,Animal House, was put together by some of his old fraternity brothers, who had based it, at least to some extent, on the antics of that house during our days at Dartmouth. He and Nancy were on their way back to the world premiere in New York. It is an extremely funny movie, and I would highly recommend it to all of you.
While John was out here we also heard from Dartmouth that the Class of 1962 came in first in its Green Derby competition for the Alumni Fund giving. This is really attributed to John and all the other people who worked on the Alumni Fund campaign since the competition was particularly intense this year, with the Class of 1958 raising over $100,000 Once again, we broke the college records for reunion giving for a class in its 16th year after graduation. Until you have a chance to spend a few days with someone on a steady basis, it is hard to understand how much time and effort goes into the chairmanship of such a campaign. The wonderful response from our Class apparently makes it worthwhile.
