Steve Slatter, after attending the Boston Architectural Center, has headed north again and is presently a partner in the Vermont Iron Stove Works in Warren, Vt. Steve has been in charge of promotion and has also designed several fireplace tools for stoves that they make. Their most famous product, The Elm, is a unique combination of cast iron and wood. The Elm has already appeared in a show of wood stoves at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Mass., and is listed in the Woodburner'sEncyclopedia. Steve feels that The Elm potentially could be marketed coast-to-coast. Presently, the upper Midwest is The Elm's major marketing area outside of New England.
From Springfield, Mass., I have received word that Bruce Douglas is progressing in the legal world. Bruce was recently named assistant counsel in the law department of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. He received his law degree from Cornell in 1976.

Teaching has also been occupying the time of Ed Cook and Steve Webster. Ed used to teach in Woodstock, Vt., and has just taken an assignment as a math teacher at Alvirne High School in Hudson, Mass. Steve has recently accepted a position at the Skitikuk School in Bangor, Maine.
My final news clip from the world of education is that Bruce Kimball, classmate and former assistant dean of the College, has graduated from the Harvard Divinity School and is presently on a Luce Scholarship, studying in Japan.
In conclusion, I would like to make two requests. First, that more women from the Class send me news as to what they are doing and where they are. Secondly, our treasurer, JoePowers, has asked me to put in a plea on behalf of the class treasury. Joe, informs me that we are still "solidly in the red," so please pay your dues.
Keep those cards and letters coming in. See you next month.
