There was a retirement dinner on Friday, February 11 at the Waverly Inn in Cheshire, honoring Walter M. Bryant. He retired as assistant secretary and director of communications for Yankee Milk, Inc. Welcome to the club, Walt.

A very nice note of appreciation was received from Lois Gunst, who sends "sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the Class of 1934." I'll thank you, Lois, for your fine note.

President Frank Heaht has advised us all of the fact that Bill Emerson has graciously accepted the position of head agent and class campaign coordinator in the Campaign for Dartmouth. We will certainly all miss Al Jacobson, but Bill is an old hand at this, having served prior to Jake. Let's all do our very best to make the job as easy and as successful as possible.

Jack Cavanaugh wrote Ed Brown that he had attended the Dartmouth-Cornell game, and I quote, "Never saw a familiar face but enjoyed the environment. Brought along a U of Illinois (via Sar Bonne) gal who had never seen American College Football!! Never heard of Blackman (even at Illinois). Came away with the conviction that soccer was much more exciting sport. Couldn't understand the 'standing around,' time outs, etc. — must say she had a point." Sorry you didn't see any of the gang, Jack, but better luck next time.

Dick Houck has agreed to continue his role as major gifts chairman for the Class. That is good news for all. Sorry we missed you on our way down, Dick, but we had a snowy and stormy trip, so just kept moving. Next time for sure!

Had a fine letter from Bill Scherman. He said that Boots Jacobson has received over 300 letters, mostly from classmates, expressing sympathy. Just a small indication of how everyone felt about Jake, and I'm sure everyone will understand if you don't get a chance to acknowledge them right away, Boots. Their daughter, Susie, had gotten all the Alumni Fund records together for Bill, and he has sent them to Bill Emerson. The Schermans were on their way to Marty and Joe Dwyer's to say goodbye to Gail and Sigrid Raphael. Gail retired after 44 years as one of New York's leading advertising copywriters. Bill also added that there will be a farewell lunch at the Dartmouth Club towards the end of March. He is sure that Jerry Danzig,Hank Werner, Stan Silverman, Ray Hulsart,Marty Dwyer, and others will be there. Gail's address will be 23431 Via Murillo, Mission Viejo, Calif. 92675. We are looking forward to seeing the Schermans, Browns, Heaths, etc., at the class officers' meeting on April 29.

June and I entertained the treasurer of the Class of '31 and his wife here in Juno Beach. Of course, it just happens that Lucy and JohnCogswell are the people, and it just happens that John is my brother. We will reciprocate the visit in April, since they live in Hanover!

Bye for now.
