One of the unusual events of the past winter was the February 23rd dinner in New York. Frank Kennedy, chairman for '25 participation in the affair, reports:

"Dartmouth Night in New York, I would say, was a smashing success, judging by the attendance. The last-minute count was 1300. I don't have the complete list of classmates attending because some late-deciders did not get on the seating list. However, at nearby choice tables assigned to us were the A.C.C. Hills, the Bob Misches, the Les Frenkels, Dick Nye, and the Kennedys. Many of us who had not seen each other for years were able to meet and chat together. We all had white hair or none at all. What impressed Corinne and me was the monstrous turnout of the classes from 1967 to 1977, which augurs well for the Dartmouth of the future."

While many of us who did work in New York have moved away in retirement or otherwise, we have a report that one of the next generation, the late Marty Huberth's son Jon, is working in the big city as an actor in The Tennis Game.

There are a lot of us in Florida now, some as year-round residents, others just for the winter. Bob Hardy in Sarasota keeps close track of Dartmouth activities on the West Coast and is chairman of the drive for $160 million in the central part of that area. There was a meeting early in February to kick things off, and the Big Green alumni there get together every couple of weeks in the winter.

Others in this section include Ed Bums, DonHunt, Bill Bunting, Ken Nugent, Mott Garlock,George Newman, and their wives. In late January Bob and Naomi Borwell were in Sarasota on their yacht Misty and entertained a number of the '25ers listed above. They were scheduled to fly to the Bahamas and return to the east coast of Florida to meet the boat there, making several more stops before returning north. Ed and Frances Burns celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January. One party was given for them by Don and Barbara Hunt and another by the four Burns children, attended by over 20 members of the family.

Don Moore is in Venice, Tubby Washburn in Fort Myers, and Bob Weinig in Naples. Frankand Ellie Wallis left Marco Island in February for a session with Frank's doctor in Boston, but by early March they were back in the sunshine with Frank doing well.

Curt Abel took time out from his preparations for the Alumni Fund campaign to record the doings of classmates on the Florida east coast.

They included a visit by the Borwells and Misty to the Delray Yacht Club, where they entertained the Zahms and the Abels for cocktails. Next day they visited Eddie andHaven Blake, the Bill Boies, and the HawleyTafts at the Hillsboro Club in Pompano.

Betty Sparks, recovered from a long illness in Rockford, Ill., returned to her condominium at the Ocean Club in Ocean Ridge.

Connie and Louise Kurtz escaped from Buffalo for a warming at the Belleview-Biltmore in Bellaire for a couple of mid-winter weeks.

Ralph and Ruth Tucker of Tryon, N.C., visited the Zahms in Delray in February during their Florida tour.

Ben and Margo Werntz hosted a party at their Pompano apartment for the Abels,Archibalds, Blakes, and Zahms.

President Kemeny, Dean Strickler, and Charlie Zimmerman addressed a Dartmouth Club of the Gold Coast dinner at Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale in February. The Zahms and the Abels enjoyed the evening and so did GardnerHowe, who came over from his home in Plantation.

Else Conrad is happily ensconced in her new apartment in Boca Raton and Peg Prescott spent the winter at her home in Delray.

Moving up the coast from Curt's area, BobCubbins and John Hamilton are in Tequesta and Harry Clarke reported enjoying the winter in Palm Beach.

And still farther north. Bob Meginnity and June Bryant got together with brother Mott Garlock in New Smyrna while the Garlocks were working their way south.

One sad note from Florida this winter: Our sympathy goes to Ralph Carey, whose wife died in mid-February. Their residences were Pompano Beach in the winter and Newburyport, Mass., the rest of the year. Shortly before leaving there last fall they had been together with Brad and Jane Kingman, Jane being a classmate of Audrey Carey at the University of New Hampshire.
