It's been four years since we strolled across the green and sat nervously on the lawn of Baker Library, anxious to receive our certification as educated men. An entire generation of Dartmouth students has come and gone since we left the Plain. As a class, we've gone just about everywhere, done just about everything and built on our Dartmouth days.
Bill Gruver took a significant step on January 17 when he married Diane Csank of Lima, Pa., with Rick King holding the ring and classmates Bob Gilbert, JackPerry, Larry Haas, Corky Spehrley and John Pearson among the Dartmouth men in attendance. Bill is a Navy lieutenant serving aboard the nuclear submarine "USS Henry Clay" stationed in Pearl Harbor.
Perley Grimes, a Litchfield, Conn., attorney, with a law degree from Georgetown University, married Karen Anne Zullig in Glenrock, N. J., on March 14. Karen, a St. Francis College alumna, is an elementary school teacher. Jim Oathout attended.
Under crossed swords and in Marine dress blues Paul Darling and Joanne Kickel walked the aisle on April 25. The couple is living in Woodbridge, Va.
Kevin and Margy Hughes welcomed Patricia Ann into the family on April 14 in Kents Hill, Me., where Kevin has been teaching English for four years. He will begin work on a Ph.D. in English at the University of Massachusetts, preparing for a college teaching career.
The interns are coming . . . from Harvard Medical School Joel Myers and Rod Prior will intern at the University of Pennsylvania Affiliated Hospitals: Phil Wade, accompanied by Barbara, will study at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester; and Johnand Mary Reinisch will be at Ann Arbor's University Hospital.
Hahnemann Medical College graduate Kerry Citrin will train at Maine Medical Center in Portland; and Scott Wright plans to intern at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Air Force Captain Andy Curtis, a member of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, shared the unit's Outstanding Unit Award. Andy and his wife, Jean, are stationed at Keflavik Airport, Ireland.... Congratulations to Rod Thompson, a new Dartmouth graduate.
The current unrest at our nation's colleges and the effective and constructive action that is, and will, result from student protest and involvement, points up the need for strong independent, liberal arts institutions... support the Alumni Fund.
