As most of you know by now, the regular author of this section of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE' (Doug Wise) recently resigned as class secretary to take on a three-year business opportunity in Tokyo. I'm sure you will all join me in thanking Doug for a job well done as class secretary and in wishing him well as the newest class member to join the international jet set. Since someone new will be taking over the class secretary functions, we really would appreciate receiving some updated information about you or your fellow classmates. A card to be used for this purpose will be included in the next class newsletter which you may or may not have received by now.
Mike Hurd and myself have recently arrived back from Hanover after attending Class Officers Weekend. During that weekend, we spent a great deal of time discussing the Class's 20th reunion. The reunion committee is currently being formalized. All most of you have to do now is to remember the reunion dates: Friday, June 15, 1979 - Sunday, June 17, 1979. Although most of you have made plans for this summer, now is the time to start making plans for next summer. We hope that you will make the Class of 1959's 20th reunion part of those plans for both you and your children. We have been told that there is an excellent program to take care of your children (at least 90 per cent of the time) during next year's alumni reunion - this should definitely be a part of your planning!
I have recently been informed that out of approximately 60 members in the Dartmouth Alumni Council, the Class of 1959 is ably represented by three members: Jack Nason (Middle Atlantic Region), Dave Duclos (Minnesota Region), and Dick Finlay (Texas Region). Jack Nason, a member since 1974, is actively engaged in the practice of managementlabor relations law. Dave Duclos is public communications manager for Meditronic, Inc. in Minneapolis. Dick Finlay is a real estate operations and investment advisor for Investment Information Inc.
Sam Swanson continues his legal practice (estate work) with Dechert, Price and Rhoades, a leading Philadelphia law firm where he is a partner. While he is recognized as quite an expert in his particular area of law, he continues to be extremely active utilizing his musical talents - in addition to the trombone, he plays the piano, organ, and violin, from classical to jazz, in various local groups.
This will be the last issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE until the fall. Therefore, I have the following reminders: Please send news; plan now for the 20th reunion; don't forget it's Alumni Fund time.
