During the past week I have had muchappreciated letters from three classmates. Space limitations permit only a few lines from each, but they will give you an idea of how things are going.
From Ed Stocker: "This year is the 50th anniversary of my graduation from Case Western Reserve University Law School. While attending the ceremonies for the occasion, whom should I encounter but Georgia (Mrs. Victor)Cannon, just as witty and charming as when we were both first-year law students in the class of '29. It will be remembered that Georgia planned to become a lawyer until persuaded otherwise by Vic." Aside from the usual minor ailments, Ed is well.
Dwight Reefs letter carries the heading "Management Development Consultant" — a second profession which he undertook most successfully after 37 years with the New York Telephone Company. Dwight and Marion have done a lot of traveling since last winter and plan to spend three months at Pompano Beach this coming season.
Last winter Stuie Knight had a serious health problem that resulted in two operations and a long period of recuperation. His illness forced the cancellation of a spring fishing vacation with his grandson on the west coast of Mexico, an area where Stuie and Bill Welch frequently fished for 15 years. All goes well with Stuie now and he is looking forward to a winter at Florida's Key Colony Beach. Classmates on the Florida keys are invited to look him up if they would enjoy a fishing trip. Stuie's sister, Harriett Maycock, is now living in Peter- borough, N.H. She plays a lot of golf and bridge, enjoys a wide circle of new friends, and has been particularly helpful as a volunteer at the Monadnock Community Hospital gift shop, which Connie Dodge has managed for the past ten years.
Francis Donovan was recently honored for 50 years as an agent of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Francis is still active as the senior member of the Peterborough, N.H., life insurance firm of Donovan, Newcombe and Edwards. He is past president of the Peter- borough Rotary Club and of the board of trustees of Monadnock Community Hospital, the latter a position now held by his daughter Dorothy Peterson. Dorothy's husband, former Governor Walter Peterson '47, is now president of Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, N.H.
A recent Associated Press dispatch described the active part Howard Alcorn is taking in the investigation of alleged corruption in the city of New Britain, Conn. Howie is a former state legislator and chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
Dick Udall says he and Alma are looking forward to three Hanover football weekends, after which they will leave their New London, N.H., home for Florida. Dick has taken on the job of secretary-treasurer of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Florida, which covers the Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg areas.
Fall reunion brought 14 of us together at a 2:00 p.m. meeting the day before the Princeton game. A dozen or so additional classmates were in town for the game but missed the meeting, which in the future will be held later in the afternoon. Ike will provide the details of class officer reports and other activities.
