Dick Cleaves found several newspapers dated November, 1, 1931, which he sent to me. Old, yellowed, and frayed, these clippings have particular importance to Dartmouth football history and to those members of our class who, as seniors, played in the famous game that day. The Boston Globe, whose headline is reproduced below, reported as follows: "If thrills are a dime a dozen, Yale and Dartmouth staged a million-dollar melodrama here this afternoon. The Green team from the Hanover hills couldn't overcome the 50-year jinx that held it back from victory over the Blue, but it overcame Albie Booth's most brilliant performance and impending defeat, flitting through the dusk of Halloween like a ghost in the darkness to gain a tie, 33 to 33. But one thing happened and then another. One thing was Bill McCall taking the kickoff just after Yale had gained its widest margin of superiority and running it back 94 yards to a touchdown. A toss from Bill Morton to Brister gained 19 yards, another from Morton to McCall gained 20."
