Back in February, my wife Pat and I went to a one-day-traveling-show version- of Dartmouth Alumni College, co-sponsored by Lasell Junior College and held on the campus of that fair suburban Boston eleemosynary institution. The topic was "Men and Women: What's the Difference?"; an intriguing title with surprising revelations. Associate Professor Jim Epperson led us through Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Assistant Professor Joy Kenseth led us through a series of slides of paintings and sculpture through the ages to confirm that ours is still pretty much a sexist society despite the fact that there is really very little difference between the sexes. Both professors did an admirable job of boiling down two week's worth of lectures into one hour each. Of course they both talked so rapidly that it was all we could do to keep from listening.

Moe and Jane Frye were the only other classmates there, even though there were several friends from other classes both fore and aft. After a yummy lunch we had the opportunity of breaking up into three separate discussion groups of about 30 people each to air our reactions to the morning lectures. The general consensus seemed to be that hopefully things are slowly getting better and maybe someday men and women will learn to be friends, as well as lovers.

Vic Smith sent along a five-page, singlespaced, illustrated Christmas letter from two good friends, Bob and Peg Tirrell, and their two gals, Gail and Helen. They are into square and round dancing plus putting out a square-dance paper. Grand Square. Peg completed her sixth year on the evening membership department of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs executive board and was state craft chairmen. Meanwhile, Bob (Doc) is involved in various dental societies, including General Dentistry, where he is a fellowship candidate.

Word comes from the Wall Street Journal announcing the establishment of a northeast sales region, in addition to the eastern, midwest, western, and southwest regions. Scott Parrot, of Belmont, was appointed to the position of regional manager. The new region includes the five New England states and Canada from Toronto east. All '45s from Toronto east, out of loyalty to Scott, should subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. Come to think of it, subscribing to the WSJ is not a bad idea anyway.
