I look wistfully out of my office window, hoping to see a few snowflakes. Instead I watch the comings and goings of the federal courthouse across the street. One of the recent famous stars was friend Billy Carter (without the Libyans) who testified at Bert Lance's hearing. This morning the bus brought me to work amidst the tractors traveling to see Carter in Washington. It's lively here in Georgia.

But on to the real news. ... I was berserk when I stumbled across the following news at the bottom of my desk drawer. Embarrassed, I admit that the press release is dated June 1978 and I can only pass along my apologies to Adrina. In June, Adrina Banks was appointed to Norton Company's abrasives sales force after completing the sales training program. Prior to the appointment, she served in Norton's customer service department. I hope that all is going well.

It seems that many 'lis have temporarily dedicated their time and talents to instructing today's youth. Jeff Cutts is still teaching prep school in Meridan, N.H., and finds it most rewarding. Last year he was awarded the Student Council Cup, given to the faculty member who, in the eyes of the students, displays the characteristics of wisdom, humility, and intelligence. Quite an honor. Robbie Stern is in her second year of teaching Spanish and French at a private school outside of Philadelphia. She spent her first year's pay last summer traveling in France, Spain, and Holland. Gary Rogers is busy teaching math and coaching football at Western Reserve Academy outside Cleveland. Andy Rayburn reports that Sausalito saw a reunion of the driving force behind Le Pape Lui-Meme in September. Peter Wood, teaching at Northfield-Mt. Herman, and Jamie Pfaff, who spent the fall in Spain, made up the merry group.

There are various reports from the working world. John Hart is in the Chicago area with Baxter Travenol Laboratories. He does development engineering of disposable intravenous products, i.e. Travenol's Viaflex unit. Pete Bernhard is in Westfield, Mass., working for the Westfield Evening News. Kim Rosenau York and her husband Bruce have bought a house in Seattle and have seen a good bit of Gary Clohan, who is attending the University of Washington studying geography in graduate school. Kim has just accepted a position as a junior environmental analyst with R. W. Beck & Associates, an engineering consulting firm.

Leslie Kenney graduated from Dartmouth in August 1976 and went to work for Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Bloomfield, Conn, as an actuarial student. As of July 1979 she will be an associate of the Society of Actuaries and needs two more exams for fellowship in the society. She will be starting with Hewitt Associates in January working first in their Stamford office and eventually New York City. She's been dating Michael Fried '76.

Darrell Groves wrote to say that he was best man for the wedding of Clifton Marshall and his wife Cynthia. Guss Davis of Birmingham was also a member of the wedding party. Darrell is presently a licensed minister at Grace Baptist Church of Germantown in Philadelphia. He is working full-time as an O.R. assistant at a local hospital while also taking graduate courses at Temple University. He's enjoying married life with wife Karen and hopes to be attending either seminary or law school next year.

Lea Sikora Hayer had a busy fall. She finished in first place in the fifth annual Dartmouth Medical School Marathon in October. The following week she finished 26th in the women's national 10 kilometer race sponsored by Bonnie Bell. There were 4,592 runners and Lea was seeded in the 3,000's. Her next race was to the altar. She married Jeff Hayer '75 on October 14 in Greenfield, Mass., and she and Jeff are now in Hanover where he is interning in general surgery at Mary Hitchcock. Details of the wedding of Jane Erwin '78 and BillHammett in September also arrived not long ago. '77s in attendance were: John Hart, J. D. Douglass, Cindy Strange Douglass, Kenne Moeller, Freddie Kramer, Bert Berthiaume, Peter Mills, Ted Wingate, Huiser Overhiser, Mike Brigham, Bill Hooper. Bert caught the garter and got to slip it onto the shapely leg of Beth Blatt '79.

Brian Deevy and Betsy Fauver are wondering if any more '77s would like to volunteer to be class agents. If you are interested, please call Hank Eberhardt at the Alumni Fund office, (603) 646-2979.

Lastly, I want to thank the parents of those '77s who take the time to let me know what their sons and daughters are doing. Thanks to proud parents, I have learned the following: MarkThompson is in the Peace Corps in Chad, Africa. Barry Harwick is now in graduate school (physical education) at the University of Pittsburgh. He is an assistant coach in cross-country and track and is competing with the Western Pennsylvania Track Club. Jon Oxman (as of October) had just finished a wood sculpture in a monastery in Kostanjevica, Yugoslavia. It was a government grant from both the U.S. and Yugoslavia.
