Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Frank Couper reminds us that Bob Reich has been very active at the Federal Trade Commission as director. Office of Policy Planning. Frank is executive officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous out of New London, Conn., home of the Coast Guard Academy. He is enjoying the mix of his two professions of law and maritime activities found in this duty which involves enforcing customs and fisheries laws. Frank says that "even the Coast Guard Academy has gone coed."

Jeff and Charlene Hinman announced the birth of Jessica D. on January 29, "a pond of tranquility amidst the seas of havoc brewed by her three-year-old brother Jacob." PeterWerner made the two-hour feature "Battered Wives" which appeared on NBC-TV. His Oscar-winning film "Region of Ice" was shown on New York's Channel 13 during the winter. Bill Ferrier notes that there are many '68s living in California. Bill is in Oakland and is very enthusiastic about the two Alumni College weekends he has attended and plans to attend all that come to the area unless a rafting trip he has planned for September in the Grand Canyon conflicts with a seminar in Seattle.

Eric Walser returned in December from a fascinating and lengthy (ten weeks) trip to Australia and New Zealand. He returned to Hollywood, Fla., for three weeks with his parents then set off on another shorter (3,000 miles) voyage to his new home in Missoula, Mont., where he is working in the real estate business. Richard Warnock, M.D., has opened a practice for orthopedic surgery and sports medicine in North Andover, Mass. Dick has been affiliated with Boston area hospitals commencing with his residency at Tufts New England Medical Center and followed by fellowships at Peter Bent Brigham and Childrens Hospital in plastic surgery. He is on the staff of four area hospitals and has covered sports for Northern Essex Community College and Whittier College.

The following notes are excerpts from the Dartmouth Anthropology Notes, which always sports a large roster of '68s. Bob and CarolynBurr have been in N.Y.C. for the past three years and are looking at alternate possibilities (I thought everyone loved New York). Bob is a physician and assistant professor at Rockefeller University. Allan and Anne Meyers live in Brookline, Mass., in close proximity to Allan's work as an instructor at B.U. Medical School. John and Joan Davidson are in Las Vegas where he is in private legal practice. Allen Skean owns a camera shop and is living in Zelienople, Pa. Allen, if you have the time to put down the cameras and write, I'd sure like to know the derivation of the name of your town!

Andy Saxon and wife Gaye Lorraine from New Zealand are settled in Santa Monica, Calif. Dr. Saxon is chief of the Division of Clinical Immunology/Allergy at the UCLA School of Medicine. I remember some exciting moments in Biology lab with aspiring physicians Greg (Iggy) Olchowski and Andy it seems we had aspirations at the time of going into a three-man OB/GYN practice. In the final analysis, hockey appears to be the thread that kept us together as Iggy is now an attorney and myself in business. David and DeborahAnne Hill are also in California where Dave is an assistant professor of anthropology at California State University (Northridge). Cedric and Elizabeth Virginia Kam live on Dartmouth St., of all places, in Rochester, N.Y., where Cedric is a city planner.

Two ten-year updates follow. My apologies to George Merrill whose letter of four months ago ended up in my family correspondence file. Your last name is the same as my mother's maiden name! Following graduation George taught in the first and second grades in an inner-city school in Baltimore, evidently a grueling experience with a happy ending. He and fellow teacher Betty Jackson met there and were married in December 1978. In 1970, he went to work for the federal government, initially as a management intern at the Social Security Administration offices in Baltimore, then as assistant secretary for legislation at HEW in Washington. George eventually shifted over to work for the U.S. Senate Budget Committee where he is presently director of the Human Resources Staff. Betty rose in the ranks of the Baltimore School System as a special assistant to the city schools superintendent and later as director of the Office of Staff Development. She is now a training program specialist with Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. The Merrills have two children, Philip and Melissa; both attend the Friends School where George is a trustee and Betty heads up the Parents Auxiliary!

The other ten-year update comes from Bill Goller, M.D., who upon graduation served aboard the USS Wainwright deployed in the Tonkin Gulf and various other exotic places. He returned from the Navy to finish pre-med training at Niagra University and entered the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. While on Naval Reserve duty in Virginia he met" wife Linda and upon graduation moved to Chicago for a residency in foot surgery at Northlake Hospital. During that time Linda worked for a busy podiatric group practice and Bill, an avid runner himself, served as part of the medical team for various local jaunting activities ... the first Mayor Daly Marathon, the Bonnie Bell 10,000 meter race, and the Chicago Lakefront 10. The Gollers have since moved to Kenmore, N.Y., where Bill is enjoying a private practice in foot surgery and sports medicine.

It's great hearing from you ten-year-outers! There must be a few more to hear from who have not written. Drop me a line.
