The big news is that President Sandoe has married Mary Foley, who was his nurse when he was involved in the terrible automobile accident. When he was in "deep despair" (to quote Nick) she restored in him the will to live. Bea and I have met her on several occasions and we know the Class will like her as much as we do. The Sandoes have taken an apartment at 282 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
Walter Lilienfield writes that he and his good wife are thoroughly enjoying themselves in Montecito, Calif., where he keeps busy swimming, golfing, and gardening. Mrs. Walter (Louise) Cooper wrote and thanked the class for the book put in the library, as did Margaret Chadwell.
Two of our fine classmates died recently. They were Harris Chadwell and Norris Hodgkins. Both were devoted to the class and the College, and we will miss them.
The Larry McCutcheons entertained the Jigger Merrills and the Bri Greeleys during the spring. The San Treats were supposed to be there, but San was laid up with bursitis. If it looks like a Psi U reunion, you are right, it was. San recovered and was north during the summer and then went on to Canada to visit his son. San spends a good bit of his time painting. He saw Jack Clark when he was down on the Cape.
When you get a note from Jim Davis which isn't scribbled on the back of an old envelope, that in itself is newsworthy. Recently I got a two-page letter written on regular letter-sized pieces of paper. Jim told of a bout he had with a gastric ulcer. During the summer his daughter Polly visited them and then later a granddaughter. All in all it has kept him busy. He did not mention his golf, which means he is not playing well.
As usual Ray Hinds spent the summer in Munsonville, N.H., and Jock Murray was in Wolfeboro, N.H.
Dartmouth conferred an honorary degreeon one of its own Maurice R. Robinson'19 at commencement exercises last June.
