Chairing the reunion had its effect on Bob Fanger he promptly left for Europe to climb Mt. Blanc! It was an exhilarating ten-day experience which I'm sure Bob would recommend, especially for any of us with a need to get away from it all. Coincidentally, he ran into his son Michael at DeGaulle Airport, Paris, as Mike was returning from Nigeria where he was on a mission for the State Department.

Being in the advertising game I receive a monthly called Madison Avenue, and the last issue referred to a seminar program they were putting together. Our own seminar specialist Leon Martel of the Hudson Institute was listed in the impressive line-up of speakers which included such heavies as Julian Bond, Ralph Nader, and four-time U.K. Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

The following was lifted from a copy of a Mike Gorton letter to one of our nongraduating classmates, Ronald Kjolseth, 1075 Grant Place, Boulder, Colo. 80302. Despite the fact Ronald has been in poor health and unable to practice C.P.A. work for seven years, his in- terest and support of Dartmouth continues. He would enjoy hearing from his friends, and if anyone is travelling in the Boulder area, he'd enjoy a visit. Incidentally, as promised, Mike turned over a check for more than $555,000 to the College!

Bob Sachs has been named editor of the Journal of the California Dental Association. He is a clinical instructor of oral biology at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center in addition to having an oral surgery practice. When he's not pulling teeth, Bob's an avid horticulturist raising orchids. Now there's a rare combination.

John Demas of Arthur Anderson is heading for a three-year stint in Brussels. Harry Am- brose hosted a bon-voyage party in his office in New York City which was attended by GerryBernstein, Colin Hunt, Bob Fanger, and LeonMartel. John was presented with a white ivory elephant not full sized from Zaire where Harry frequents on business. As Zaire was formerly the Belgian Congo, the elephant is symbolic of Belgian economic ties, not the Reagan-Bush ticket.

Peter Teal is quoted in '55 Out: "I am now struggling to educate five children. I worry about the population explosion." Come on Peter, what if we all had five kids? Papa is an orthopedist and physician in Billings, Mont., and should know better.

Another guy who is putting us on is JackHodgson of Fayetteville, N.Y., a political- science professor at Syracuse University. His absent-minded advice from the same publication: "When buying copper pipe for horizontal water lines, I would suggest ¾" rigid L piping." Now what is that supposed to mean?

Hope you're making plans for attending some football games this fall. Highlights on the schedule this year are the William and Mary game in Williamsburg and the Harvard weekend in Hanover, October 17 and 18, commemorating 100 years of football competition. Rooms for Harvard weekend have been reserved for our class at the Sheraton North Country Inn in West Lebanon. Details have been sent out in a special mailing.

Some memorable words from Michael Carothers '80 addressing the College on class day last June: "As we prepare to leave, wherever we go and whatever we do, we owe some of our make-up and inspiration to Dartmouth and Hanover. You can go to any other school for four years, but you go to Dartmouth for the rest of your life."
