Greetings from the magnificent Midwest. Dave Dunbar has asked me to write this month's column so that he can treat his bride to an extended honeymoon through Europe. Must be nice.
On Saturday, September 13, I had the distinct pleasure of attending the wedding of Glenn Reed and Barbara Welsh in Barrington, 111. It was a truly gala event (Peter Duchin at the keyboard); the Dartmouth turnout was great. Among those '7ss attending were Dan Kenslea, Al Markman, Bob Hittle, Tom Parnon, Kevin Kelly, Rick Waddell, Tom Snickenberger, and Mark Engebretson. Congratulations to the happy couple who will be at home on Chicago's near north.
Speaking of Mark Engebretson, he was really on a training mission at Glenn Reed's wedding in order to prepare for his marriage to Carol Hubbell (Ithaca '76) in Des Moines on September 27. Enger is an attorney with Faegre and Benson in Minneapolis, specializing in commercial real estate. Carol works for a local women's clothing store. Rumor has it that she is a former U.S. Olympic Team trainer. Enger reports that Dave Miller is also with Faegre and Benson and his wife Kathleen is a nurse in the coronary-care unit of a local hospital.
Tom Wood is with Goldman Sachs and was recently transferred from New York to Philadelphia.
Remember Jim Connor? Remember Greg Hakanen? Last month on a quiet suburban Saturday night we were paid a surprise visit by these June Stanford B-school grads. They were accompanied by their wives, Renee and Laurel, respectively. Jim and Renee were on their way (rhyme unintentional) to Boston where Jim has taken a job with the Boston Consulting Group. Renee is with Hewlett-Packard.
As for the Hakanen's, Greg is an account manager with Hewitt Associates, a consulting firm in suburban Chicago. Laurel is in the first year of the M.B.A. program at Northwestern. As Greg said, he's one of the few people he knows who will have been through an M.B.A. program for four years running.
Gretchen Teichgraeber is in New York working for Time Magazine. She is in charge of new business circulation for Canada.
John Lemoal and Christine Bartolo were married on June 22. They are at home in New Canaan where John is teaching school.
