This month's notes were written primarily by Don Burkhardt. Don called during the summer asking about the Italian magazine article on Dave DeMarco, mentioned in an earlier class notes column. At that time, he reported he had been working as a legal researcher in Colorado and that come September he would begin working on a master's degree in public administration at the University of Colorado in Denver. All that has come to pass, and in a spare moment Don found time to write a newsletter for '77 H.P.F. alumni, a copy of which he shared with me. Consequently, I take no responsibility for the accuracy of any news, but gratefully acknowledge Don's help and greedily filch his scoops.
Don attended the wedding of Dave Halpert on August 17 along with Bob Leach (best man), Thad Seymour, Bill Levinger, and SteveMcAllister. The bride was Audrey Mendoza '79 and the ceremony was in Rollins Chapel. For the record, Halps dropped the ring! Dave is working for an electronics firm near Hanover 'and he has also bought a farm near Enfield. The last reports indicated that Audrey and Halps share their new home with five horses, a dog or two, and some sheep and pigs. Thirty acres of land should keep them busy as well.
Bob Leach has been busy tearing up the insurance industry. He recently passed all of his actuarial exams and is one of the youngest actuaries around. He is working for New England Life and rumor has it that he actually brought work to the wedding. Once a weenie. . . .
Thad Seymour still pursues his history Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Still in medical school at the University of Pennsylvania is "Wild Bill" Levinger. He seems to be in no hurry to graduate as he took last year off to hike in Vermont, work for a smalltown doctor in Mississippi, and travel to New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. This past summer Bill was an Outward Bound instructor in New Mexico and he's decided to devote his time to being a small-town "doc."
Gary Mayo is also involved in the insurance business though no one seems to remember with which company he is affiliated.
So you won't think that I have absolutely no initiative this month, I'll add a few notes from my meager collection of news. Much of the news is reserved from last spring, however, and is consequently somewhat dated. Jeffrey Shade wrote that he married Molly Sills in June 1979. He received a master's in insurance from the University of Illinois and is working as an insurance agent with a family firm. Also among the newly marreid are Anne Goode and AnneFontaine. Anne G. married Peter Edson '74 in Rollins Chapel on August 16 and they will be living on a 40-acre farm in Hanover. Anne F. married Robert Buckholz '76 in September. She graduated in May from the New York University School of Law, where she was an editor of The Review of Law and SocialChange.
Three birth announcements were received over the summer: Jarod Lucas Hayer was born in March and the proud parents are Lea Sikora and Jeff Hayer '75. Lee Ann Disharoon Tolzmann and husband, David '76, sent word of the arrival of Catlin Ann. They have moved to Jackson, Miss. Most recently (August 20), Jeffand Kathy Kelley McKee became the parents of Kelley Ann.
You will notice that the column this month is shorter than usual; it may dwindle away to only several lines next month if I don't get some help from you shortly. Don't be shy.
