The news from Atlanta this month is that Garth and I have bought a house. Already the "joys" of home ownership have us cleaning gutters and buffing hardwood floors, but it's worth it. Please note the new address above and send any and all news of classmates - now!
Dave Van Vliet wrote to tell me that recently two per cent of the class of 1977 held a reunion at the "Cato Cabana" in Cato, N.Y. The event drew not only '77s, but also numerous '76s, '78s, and '79s, a '73, a '61, and their spouses. The party lasted three full days and nights! Among those attending were Dave Vaughn, Bill Klupchak, Johnny Carroll, Lisa Copenhaver, Mike Huffman, Gary Schillhammer, Billy Jarrett, Tom Barnico, Jim Truncellito, Bob Huggard, Joe Gleason, Billy Donovan, Mike Walsh, Chuck Dana, Steve Lentine, Steve Cordy, and Ro Griggs. Unfortunately, the gathering was so large that in the group photo Dave enclosed, the faces of the participants were largely indistinguishable, so the picture couldn't be reproduced here. But I could tell that it looked like a pretty well-dressed group!
Steve Solomon is doing well in Los Angeles, living a mile and a half from the beach. He is getting a.Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has also been working with juvenile delinquents, doing individual and group counseling.
Larry Peiros, who had been serving as an assistant dean of the College since graduation, recently entered Stanford University Graduate School of Business Administration. Other notes from California: Mike Zischke is in law school in Berkeley and Kim Carr is working for the Bank of America in the investment department.
Annie Goode wrote in August, and I'm afraid that I am only now passing on the news. She has been hired by Xerox to sell word-processing equipment for the office products division in the Boston suburban office. Before starting with Xerox, Anne took a three-week vacation to tour Wales with the Beantown Women's Rugby Club, which she joined last June. The team was hosted by four different men's clubs, so while there, she found plenty of beer, fun, and frolic.
Due to a distinct dearth of first-hand material for this month's column, I find myself winding up with some press clippings that have accumulated. Ken Rosenfield was marriedto Janet McLeon in August in Newport, R.I. The couple is now living in Worcester, Mass. Ken is a student at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Janet is employed at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.
Calvin Brooks has joined the Conant Ball Company of Gardner, Mass., in the marketing and sales division. He is a recent graduate of Northwestern's Graduate School of Management.
According to the Wilton, Conn., Bulletin,Robert Belden has been included in the 1979 edition of "Outstanding Young Men of America," endorsed by the United States Jaycees. Robert worked for the Dartmouth Systems Dynamics Group to develop a large-scale, natural-energy computer model now being used by the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., to analyze long-term energy problems, and he also spent time in Washington as a consultant to the DOE. He is currently employed with Texas Instruments in Lubbock, Tex.
I have also received word that Bruce Ramin was graduated from Columbia University School of Business Administration, where he was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. He is attending Columbia Law School this fall.
And I was recently advised by Larry Zarkerthat he and Sue Braden have received grants tostudy the feasibility of developing monkeymarkets in the Queensland region of Australia. They will also study the religious art of theWakelbura tribe in that region. Mail can besent to them in care of General Delivery, inCharleville, Australia. (Monkeys in Australia? It sounds intriguing, but I'm not sure that Ibelieve it!)
Lastly, the College forwarded an interesting article from the Laconia, N.H., Evening Citizen regarding State Representative Michael Hanson. He has been designated as the statewide executive director of Senator Howard Baker's New Hampshire campaign.
I have now included every scrap of news that has found its way into my empty mailbox. Unless you wish to find a blank page where the 1977 class notes should be in the December issue, I strongly urge you to send me an early Christmas card with news of yourself and others you've seen. Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!
