In case you skipped the heading above, thinking you knew where I live, I'll point out the change of address so that the flow of news to my desk can remain uninterrupted. By the time this article is read, Garth and I should be happily settled in the Boston area. The snow will be rough after four years in the sunny South, but we keep reminding ourselves that we once lived in New Hampshire. Our move was precipitated by Garth's decision to accept a job in the international department of the First National Bank of Boston and by my determination to attend at least one 1977 class officers meeting before turning over my secretarial responsibilities in June.
Speaking of the reunion, all plans remain on schedule. The dates are June 18-20 in Hanover and there are several records to break. Certainly we can surpass the class of 1976's record of 274 classmates at a fifth reunion. The more the merrier!
The various activities planned for the weekend will give us all an opportunity to catch up with people like Rufus King. He wrote not long ago to assure the class that contrary to the current rumor, he was not involved in the recent abortive mercenary coup in the Seychelles. Rather he is working in New York as an editor of science textbooks for a small college publisher. After Dartmouth, Rufus spent two years in England, studying ancient philosophy at Oxford and then completed his education by working for two years as an itinerant textbook sales agent in Texas. Currently, he lives in the shadow of Princeton and commutes into New York. While Rufus hinted that he had information about the activities of Bev Graf and Dennis Kehoe, I couldn't meet his price.
Recent mail also included a letter from John T. Pellicone. He graduated from medical school last May and promptly married Maria J. Granato. Dartmouth folks in attendance included Dr. and Mrs. Gary Noel, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Steward, Eric Kishbaugh, and Dr. Michael J. Broom. John is presently an intern in mternal medicine at the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx.
Lisa Copenhaver is back in the ranks of the unemployed as a student. She is working on a faster's degree in labor and industrial relations at Michigan State University after having spent two years working at Buick in Flint, Mich.
In that same general part of the country, word arrived from Darrell and Alison Baute Pieree. Darrell is becoming an international bankers' attorney and in his spare time serves the Dartmouth Club of Chicago as a vice president. Alison is the club treasurer, Donna Fletcher is secretary, and Mary Lovejoy Whistler is another vice president. It makes one sleep better at night knowing that the Chicago Dartmouth Club is in such capable '77 hands!
Kelly Carter is now a product engineer for Andover Controls Corporation, developing computer systems for energy conservation. He moved into a house in Derry, N.H., and is active in the Londonderry Christian Church, teaching Sunday School to high school students and singing.
The wedding announcements for the month are a manageable number for a change. Judging by the countless notices I've received during the past four years, I would surmise that there couldn't be too many left in the class who are of the unmarried persuasion. Bill Saufley married Leigh Ingalls, a law school classmate. Guests included Bill Greenbaum, Bob "BoFlem" Fleming '78, and Steve Bell. Bill is now working as legislative counsel to the Maine State Legislature and living in Augusta. Stephen Silver was married in May 1981 to Tracy Maynard (Colby '77). Al Sinsheimer and Steve Jones both served as ushers at the event. Stephen has been living in Montclair, N.J., with his bride and working as regional sales manager for A-Copy Inc. Peter Mills's wedding date was January 2 and the bride was Carol Geiger. He finished business school in June, spent all summer hiking through the national parks out west, and is now settled in the bay area south of San Francisco. He is working in the marketing area of a hi-tech start-up company that is designing semiconductor testing equipment. Michael Denton was best man for the wedding of John Collen and Karen Taylor on November 21. Lastly, Jordan Tannenbaum married Susan Leahy in Keene, N.H., on September 5. Michael Schuster witnessed the ceremony and waved goodbye as the happy couple took off for Los Angeles, where Jordan is finishing a pediatric residency at Kaiser Hospital.
I close this month with a note from the "small world department": It seems that Carol Muller and Al Henning happened to run into a woman in California who had worked with Ken Renner in the Peace Corps in Kenya. She regaled them with tales of his exploits, including bribing his way into Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Ken is currently rumored to be in Scandinavia working on an oil rig. Ken, is it all true?
