Janet Richmond, Spud's widow, spent the Christmas season in London with a niece. They had a fascinating trip to Egypt; they were so awed by all to be seen and the joy of camel rides that they were wishing they were Egyptologists.
Dick White's daughter Beatrice has made the National Endowment for the Arts and has been in town twice during January for committee meetings. She has been manager of the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra for 25 years and just finished raising $5,800,000, to be matched by state funds, for a new theaterauditorium for the symphony. The northwest alumni should recruit her for the Alumni Fund!
Marion Clahane wrote from her home, 30-30 Park Avenue, Apartment 6W6, Bridgeport, Conn. 06604, that she still has Frank's senior Indian-head cane and she wondered if there is any place at Hanover interested in such memorabilia. Her letter was sent to Alumni Records for information.
Those who enjoy adventure combined with mystery should read Gene Markey's The LittleEmerald. Last summer Sewall Strout sent a copy to your secretary. The latter's enjoyment caused him to give it to the Kendal library, where he assists. There it is in constant circulation - need there be a higher recommendation? Gene's war experience doubtless places it in the South Pacific.
