Although we did not have the pleasure of seeing him on his winter visit to Florida, Prez JohnZimmerman and wife Alice went to Sanibel Island on the west coast in January to celebrate his father's 99th birthday. From all reports the annual Zimmerman family reunion on this shell-rich island was a very happy event, with much golf and bridge-playing enjoyed by all. J. Z. also informed us that his brother GusZimmerman was married the day after Thanksgiving last year to "a great girl Marjorie, who is president of Alice's class at Wellesley College." Congratulations to Mr. Zimmerman senior and Gus and Marjorie.

Our prez is now very much involved in the Campaign for Dartmouth, chairing the major gifts committee for the New London, Conn., area. He is also chairing the board of trustees of the North Country School in Lake Placid, N.Y., where his son Peter matriculated many years ago. J. Z. further reported, "Alice and I sepnt a busy Christmas in the Seattle area with daughter Anne and her family. Lots of fun. Our present schedule includes some sailing in the Grenadines in late February and early March."

Speaking of enjoyable reunions, Whip and Addie Walser held their second annual southeast Florida gathering of '32s on January 26 at Holland Park in Hollywood. Thirteen classmates and wives or friends were in attendance, namely the John Almerts, Milt Alperts, Hank Barbers, Bill Bristers, Dick Cleaveses (all the way from St. Petersburg), Ted Ellises, Morry Hubbards, Ralph Littwins, Gordon MacKenzies (who drove in from Charleston, S.C.), and Herb Pikes, plus Ev Stuhrman and Larry Milgroom. Additional guests included Dick and Dottie Hobbs '39, our Alumni Council member for the area, and Harding Macdona '33.

Maine lobsters and Ipswich steamers catered by a Boston firm now trying to establish itself in south Florida gave the mini a New England flavor. With 31 people attending, many a good cheer was toasted. We hope to make this an annual event with increasing numbers of classmates attending.

Red Hahn reported that he continues a very active life as professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Jefferson Medical College. In a recent letter he stated, "I gave four papers in Paris in the spring (1979). I have given talks in Chicago, Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Hot Springs, Va., and I just returned from New Orleans, where I attended the World Congress on Carbon Dioxide Laser Surgery." Red is also a governor of the American College of Surgeons and was recently inducted in the. Legion of Honor of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia. It is our understand- ing that this particular legion was developed to commemorate the heroism of the fOUr chaplains who gave up their life preservers to others when the ship Dorchester was sunk in the early part of World War II. When not involved in the medical profession, Red shows his beautiful Chesapeake Bay retrievers.

News received from replies to our questionnaire indicates that Charlie Doerr is now semiretired after 35 years as an executive and officer of McKesson and Robbins. He has spent the last 12 years as a business consultant and maintains a one-man office in La Jolla, Calif. As he said, he has gone from "big business" to helping "small business." He is also currently a director-trustee of a cancer research foundation and is involved in the Children's Hospital and the Blood Bank in La Jolla. Who says '32ers are not leading busy, active, interesting, and fruitful lives?

Your obedient servant,

Jack Weisert '31, second from left, was among the prize-winners in a golf championship in November 1979 in Saint-Jean-De-Luz France, where he lives. Making the awards was the Honorable Jacques Chaban-Delmas second from right, the president of the French Assemblee Nationale and a member of Weisert's golf club.
