The Green's recent success in hockey proved to be a boon to us, as we had occasion to run into several classmates in Boston at the ECAC finals and in Providence at the NCAA tournament.

Among those enjoying the action were Ron Campion, Dana Hennigar, Hugh Brady, John Harlor, Web Wilde, Swifty Lawrence, Ed Haley, and Phil Reilly.

Ron Campion reported that three bus-loads of fans left Hanover for the NCAA semi-final game versus North Dakota, and all three buses were stopped for speeding along the way. However, the crowd was noisy and although the Green finally got worn down, the effort was a good one.

The first annual ski weekend hosted by Doug and Joan Melville at the Kandahar Lodge in Londonderry, Vt., got off the ground in March. John French and his two children and Bob and Iris Fanger and their two children were the only classmates who spent, the entire weekend. Swifty Lawrence stopped in with his bride on his way to somewhere.

Doug reported that the atmosphere was friendly and the skiing was excellent at nearby Bromley and Stratton. Doug has donated $55 to our current Alumni Fund as a result of the weekend. It appears that this could become a wonderful annual event, given that next year we have earlier notice.

An article in the New York Times BookReview section reveals that Bob Wool is the author of a new book being published by Random House entitled All You Need To KnowAbout the IRS: A Taxpayer's Guide.

Obviously, Bob has his own files in pretty good shape or he wouldn't be taking on the feds. Actually, the book is not intended to be an expose nor does Bob engage in any mudslinging at the IRS. It is just a book that answers some hard questions. Bob did not intend to write anything originally. He was planning to package this book by bringing together a writer and publisher and presenting them with a marketable subject. Unfortunately, the writer that was chosen did not capture the flavor that Bob had in mind so he took over the project. Actually, the IRS will probably be very happy with Bob because it looks like the book will be a very profitable enterprise, and obviously they will get their share of the profits.

This is the last column that will appear prior to our grand and glorious 25th on June 12-15. All indications are that we will have a record attendance, but I urge any of you who are still on the fence about attending to get in touch with Bob Fanger immediately. He and his committee will find a way to accommodate you.
