Just a little more than a year after we reported that Ace Hall had joined General Dynamics after about six years of service with the Department of Transportation, we have received a release announcing that Ace has been promoted to staff vice president-corporate planning for the whole G.D. company. He will continue to be responsible for guiding corporate and unit planning efforts.
Another impressive news release tells us that Jay Olson has been elected executive Vice president of GAF Corporation. This announcement comes only one year after Jay was elected a senior vice president of GAF. Jay, his wife Lyn, and his three children live in Pleasantville, N.Y.
The Rotary Club of Philadelphia sends word that Lyn Brock, president of Brock and Company, Inc., a Philadelphia-based food-vending service, was elected governor of Rotary International District 745 at the 69th annual convention of that organization held last May in Tokyo. This makes Lyn the highest ranking Rotary official in the Philadelphia area, a district that is composed of 43 rotary clubs.
After obtaining his A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from Dartmouth, Lyn served as an officer in the U.S. Navy before joining Brock and Company.
Lyn is currently a member and officer of many community, charitable, and business organizations. He serves on the board of directors of Northeastern Hospital. He is a trustee of Pierce Junior College, is a former governor of the Mayflower Society of Pennsylvania, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce and the Union League of Philadelphia.
He and his wife Claudie and their two sons live in Newton Square.
Dave Lowry has had a scholarship named after him. He left the staff of Harvey School in New York State last June. He had been serving as the director of admissions there for the last four years, but his association with the school spans 30 years. In recognition of his unswerving dedication to Harvey, the David Lowry Scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving boy.
A card from Norrie Howard states that after 15 years at Darrow School as English teacher, dean, and assistant headmaster, he has moved to the Pine Cobble School in Williamstown, Mass. He says he is "completing a new house on a woodsy old farm ... and looking forward to the 25th reunion."
Milo White writes that his family is, "all fine and older. ... Enjoyed company of TomCarlson at a University of Michigan football game last year." Milo and his wife have two sons at Michigan and a daughter who is a senior in high school at Ann Arbor. Milo happens to be the principal of that school. His wife Marilyn works as a nurse at an extendedcare facility.
Still "lawyering" in Waitsfield, Vt., is AlanUris. He reports that last May he and wife Sheila took a trip to San Miguel, Mexico, to visit friends, and went to the carnival in St. Martin. "Everything else is about the same."
The committee for the 25th had an organizational meeting at chairman BobFanger's home in September and things are beginning to take shape. If anyone out there has any suggestions, the committee will be glad to consider them.
The October mini-reunion should provide some "live" grist for this mill, but we never have enough news. Please let us hear from you.
