Bill Wilson wrote: "We're off to Longboat Key (Denham land and Hobbs land) on the last day of January."

The remainder of this column has either been forwarded by Lucy Cogswell or swapped with Bill Wendell.

Johnny Boermeester: "We have just finished my fifth year of retirement and our fourth year in this fine village of 1,000 souls just next door to Pinehurst, which is a very active resort and convention center. We miss our visits to Hanover (950 miles from here), but have definitely set aside June of 1981 as our reunion month. Marion just had a most successful lens implant operation, for a cataract problem, and we are happy indeed over the fact that she now once more has 20/20 vision. To celebrate we will fly with friends to Bermuda at the end of this October for a 'hacker's' vacation of golf."

Rupe Brooke: "I have progressed (?) to the stage (maybe senility) of preferring the cornpany of two-year-olds, especially when they are great-granddaughters, of which I now have one. Still loafing and loving it, with no apologies."

Len Clark: "The biggest news is that our granddaughter Heather Keare has started out as a 'little Greenie,' class of '84. She is thrilled to be there."

Jack Cole: "This is the time of year for thoughts of Hanover. Sorry to miss the October gathering."

Dan Denham: "Betty and I spent September on Long Island to escape the long hot Florida summer. In early October we took the ferry from Orient Point over to New London, and then on to West Ossipee for three great days with Ori and June Hobbs. The foliage, which we miss down here, was beautiful and brought back fond memories of autumns in Hanover. Caught the William and Mary game on the way home. Williamsburg is an attractive spot. Will see you at our big 50th next year."

Ed Langenbach: "On July 1, because of age and infirmities, I 'retired' to our vacation home in Vermont. We sold our Cambridge condominium and have been going through the horrors of unpacking, fixing, arranging, and rearranging ever since. Every third week I've returned to my Boston office to try to tie up loose ends of a 46-year law practice. I've also struggled with it at my desk in West Windsor, Vt. As far as I am concerned retirement is twice as busy as working ― what with wood to cut, split, and pile in the woodshed, putting the gardens to bed, feeding the birds and fish, etc. However, I'm sure I'll never get nearer to heaven than I am right now."

Matty Matteson: "Enjoyed the trip to Chicago a couple of weeks ago to meet with SiLeach, Bill Minehan, etc., relative to our 50th reunion plans. Outside of that, am leading a quiet life."

Ed Mecutchen: "We had a nice trip in August to Cape Breton, N.S., visiting with Bill Adams '63 in Marblehead, Mass., on the way. We stayed at the Telegraph House and Motel in Baddeck and visited with our friends and relatives."

Mil Miller: "Harriet and I had a great time at the Leach-Schuldenfrei powwow in Florida last winter (1980). We're planning on the 50th."

Doug Morris: "Chances of my getting to the 50th are slim. When I accepted the offer to be editor of this paper, the Sun City Citizen, I decided it would take precedence over everything else. In addition to the problems involved in turning out a 44-page paper every week, my work involves membership on many committees, and up to eight speeches a week, plus a great deal of writing. It's one of the most exciting challenges I've ever had."

George Nickum: "Still working, but not so hard as formerly. Have reduced the amount of travel very considerably. I now take six weeks off in the winter in Palm Springs. My golf and tennis are lousy, but at my age I don't particularly care how I look in action."

Rusty Rusterholtz: "I am looking forward to our 50th in Hanover next June 12-14. I never felt better in every way in my life, although I have mild forms of diabetes and Parkinson's disease."

Fred Slaughter: "Ruth and Burt Crandell '30 will be visiting us in October. All's well here."

Al Sutton: "Every day seems to move along on an even keel. Don't know whether it's luck or good management, but we've had eight years of an enjoyable retirement. Maybe we've been just plain lucky. Probably better than we deserve."

Chuck Vetter: "Retired from American Airlines for the last five years and enjoying California living plus lots of travel."

Bob Wallace: "Speedy and I are certainly planning to be on hand for our 50th next June." The big one for '31 is '81! Be there!

Can anyone identify the mystery member of 1931 shown here imposing his affectionson a Norwich Academy student during the Norwich-Dartmouth football game of 1927?

Cliff McDonald '31, now chairing 1931's50th reunion, looked like this as a senior.
