Amy and I have just returned from the annual Class Officers Weekend and all is well at the College. The class had a good turnout of officers including President Buck Scott, Treasurer Carl Glassberg, Head Agent Howie Allen, Campaign Coordinator Charlie Breed, Reunion Chairman Herm Christiansen, and your scribe. We received reports on the various fund-raising programs currently in progress as well as talks by both the incoming and outgoing presidents. The weather for the weekend could have been better, but nevertheless, it was still good getting back to Hanover.

The accompanying picture was taken this past winter at Stratton Mountain Ski Resort. The get-together of classmates HowardPhillips, Jerry Block, and Hank Moyer over Washington's Birthday has become an annual event, and other members of the class are invited to join in the fun. Howard reports that Jerry is chief of neurology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and Hank is presently an officer in a large insurance brokerage firm. Concerning his own fortunes, Howard writes, "I recently set up my own investment banking consulting firm, having been director of corporate finance at Oppenheimer in New York for the last eight years."

The past few months have been very exciting and eventful for Howie Allen. At the end of the last year Howie was made vice president of Sandler of Boston, a manufacturer of women's shoes with whom Howie has been associated the past two years. His daughter Emily has been accepted at Dartmouth with the class of '85. And last but not least, daughter Lisa has been married and is off to Tokyo where she and husband John will work for the First National Bank of Boston.

Mark Heifer writes from England that he and Rachel had a four-month, 40,000-mile holiday last year traveling to New Zealand, Australia, and California. This so whetted their appetite for travel that they are going to attend their first reunion this June. They plan on touring New England and look forward to renewing old friendships.

The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory of Cambridge, Mass., has announced the promotion of Joe O'Connor to vice president for personnel and administration. Joe is also president of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, president-elect of the Cambridge Rotary Club, director of Cambridgeport Savings Bank, and a director of Junior Achievement of Massachusetts.

And so ends my tour as your secretary. It has been a rewarding job and a lot of fun. I thank you all for the help and cooperation given me and wish my successor, Dave Wiggins, good luck in the job. So long for now!
