Among this month's news items is word that Rodney Morgan Jr. has been promoted to vice president, commercial loan platform, of Hartford National Bank in Hartford, Conn. He is responsible for a portfolio of middle market companies and new business development. Rod joined the bank in 1976 as a credit analyst. He and his family live in West Hartford.
James Smith has been elected president of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Waterbury, Conn. The former treasurer of the bank, Jim will also serve as chief administrative officer and a director of the association. He has been an officer of the bank since 1975. Jim is also the president of the Waterbury Boys' Club, a director of St. Mary's Hospital, and a trustee of the Waterbury Foundation. In 1980 he was the recipient of the Waterbury Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to the community, a director of the Waterbury Civic Theatre, and a member of the mayor's Private Industry Council.
Michael Cotsworth, former vice president of acquisitions and portfolio management at Essex Property Corporation, is president and co-founder of Capital Gain Investments, a newly-formed real estate investment and management firm based in Los Altos, Calif. The company will provide property investment and management services for individuals, professional corporations, and pension plans. Prior to forming the company, Mike was involved in all levels of property analysis and acquisition and was responsible for the asset management of numerous investment portfolios. Together with his wife Vicki and daughters Danielle and Cynthia, Mike lives in Los Altos.
Peter Sorlien was recently appointed director of Mystic Seaport Museum Stores, selling "the best contemporary marine art and ship models in America to benefit one of America's great maritime museums, and happy as a clam."
