As I write this (mid-August) Louise and I are enjoying the best weather Cape Cod ever seems to offer—a suggestion of fall in the air, clear and crisp mornings. First the sick list roll call. Farmer Mead had just returned to his Marthas Vineyard home when I called. He seemed in fine fetde after a long rehab at the Spaulding facility in Sandwich. Bud Miskell is making gradual progress following a severe hand fracture in late spring. He is about ready to check his tennis forehand and has resumed bike riding—the culprit initially to the fracture. Don and Louise McCorkindale seem to like their new quarters in Chatham, Park Place, an assisted living facility. Louise still plays tennis, while Don mentioned having talked recently with Bill Maeck's daughter, who incidentally is a Dartmouth grad. Her dad is still located in Sun City, Arizona.Jean and Bob Grant, while late in getting to their summer home on Cape Cod, are well, although Bob is unable to golf anymore. They were expecting to head for their Florida digs before the "official" hurricane season. Bing Donaldson passed on to me a recent note he had received from Stan Bolster. Stan and his wife, following a round-the-world cruise of some three and a half months, returned to summer as usual in Pemaquid, Maine, but in a new home acquired the previous October. Louise and I, while in Juneau last June, were interested to hear of the positive role played by Lowell Thomas Jr. 46 in Alaska's finances. He and John Hammond deserve much of the credit for preserving North Slope oil revenues paid to the state in an investment fund that is beyond the reach of the legislators. One New England 43 who was a frequent attendee at our Cape mini-reunions and who has disappeared from the radar screen is Andy Caffrey. If all is well, how about checking in with a call or note? I'm indebted to John Jenkins for obit information regarding Bob Liming, who died July 7. Other classmates who have passed away recently are Baily Walten and Paul Weinbrenner. Our condolences to the families. Stay well!
