Among the items in the October mailbag is word that Jim Wood married Jean Carbo on May 4 in Boston. Mike Ross was best man. Other Dartmouth grads at the wedding included Jeff Wulfson, Rich Schwager '72, Ted Parent '72, and Jim's father, Donald Wood '33. The happy couple honeymooned in Bermuda and are now residing in Newton, Mass.

Les and Tim Barron are living in Southern Mindanao in the Philippines where Tim is manager of operations for Dole pineapple. The couple, at last writing, were expecting their first child this past summer. They plan to attend our tenth reunion scheduled for June 19, 20, and 21.

Charlie Johnson, a New York State assemblyman from the Bronx, appeared as a panelist for Law Alumni Day at the College, sponsored by the Daniel Webster Legal Society last May. After receiving his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Charlie served as counsel to the minority leader of the New York State Senate and as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx.

Bill Brooks has been named vice president of Block Management Company, a subsidiary of H & R Block Inc., the nation's largest income tax return preparation service. Bill, together with the subsidiary's president, Joel Hyatt '72, have acquired a minority interest in the subsidiary. Block Management has acquired certain of the assets of Hyatt Legal Clinics, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, which currently operates nine legal clinics throughout the state and provides legal services in the general areas of domestic relations, wills, bankruptcy, probate, and real estate.

Hyatt, which was launched by Joel and Bill several years ago, has been a pioneer in the development of delivery systems for low-cost legal services and is one of the nation's largest legal clinical organizations. Block Management will furnish Hyatt with accounting, word processing, computer, purchasing, and various other administrative, advertising, and marketing services, as well as equipped office space primarily in H & R Block locations.

Eric Ranney has become a member of the Atlanta law firm of Trotter, Bondurant, Miller & Hishon. Mike Fay was admitted to junior partnership in the law firm of Hale and Dorr in Boston.

Charles Carey has become vice president, marketing, at the Creve Coeur, Mo., headquarters of Citicorp Person-to-Person Inc., a consumer financial services subsidiary of Citicorp, a worldwide financial organization and the parent company of New York-based Citibank, N.A. Having joined the company in 1979 as a staff vice president, he is now responsible for all direct-lending marketing activity and his department is one of the largest marketing areas in Citicorp's consumer services group.

Prior to joining Citicorp Person-to-Person, he was employed with General Foods Corporation as a product manager and was an instructor in marketing strategy and advertising management at the University of Maryland and Pace College. He and his wife Louisa live in the city of St. Louis.

Mark Totman has moved back to the "real world" management consulting from the wilderness of Aspen and is living in Winchester, Mass. Tom Hancock, a school teacher living in Seattle, wed Lisa Day last June 21 in Silverdale, Wash. Tom says, "After much searching, I have found my faith in God to be fully satisfying."

Bob Schnabel, who teaches an introductory course and numerical analysis courses in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado, was one of four faculty members to have been honored by the university's students for outstanding classroom schools. Bob was a recipient of the 1980 Teaching Recognition Award, sponsored by the Amoco Oil Foundation and presented by the student alumni association. Each winner also received a cash award of $500.

Finally, Alice Reno Malone, who attended Dartmouth from September 1969 through August 1971 and was, in her own words, "the most tenured special student on record," has become an adopted member of the class. Alice and her husband live in Reston, Va. Welcome aboard (officially), Alice, from the class of 1971.
