Those of you who watched the U.S. Tennis Open on television had a chance to see Jim Rosenfield, executive vice president of CBSTV. I am sure that "working" on weekends is assuaged by being able to combine work with pleasure, Jim. Incidentally, you looked great, considering your age.

Steve Lazarus works up the road and lives in Glencoe, Ill. We had a pleasant chat on the phone the other day. After retiring in 1973 as a Navy captain, Steve joined Baxter Travenol, where he is senior vice president in charge of strategic planning, the worldwide computer network, new ventures, human resources, and materials management. During his military service, Steve went to Harvard Business School and then spent nine years in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the office of the secretary of defense, followed by a stint with the maritime administration. During this period Steve was also on loan to the Department of Commerce for east-west trade, a position in which he continued as a civilian following retirement from the Navy.

Steve and Arlene's three sons are doing well, with Paul having graduated from Dartmouth in 1976 and Scott from Northwestern in 1980, and Jeff now a senior in high school. When not plying his trade, Steve can be seen working on the Glencoe school board, participating in study groups in Washington, playing tennis, or skiing.

There are some interesting statistics in Jon Walton's 1982 treasurer's report. First and foremost-the class is solvent. But, in the 1981—82 period, dues-payers dropped seven per cent to 424 from 455 the previous year. Jon attributes this to the deterioration in the quality of this column, but I think that he forgot to put stamps on some of the dues notices. In any event, the number of dues-payers in 1981-82 represented 68 per cent of the class, while the previous year this figure was 72 per cent. 0.K., folks, let's pull up our socks!

Head Agent Dick McDonough reports in a letter dated August 11 (which I couldn't find when I wrote last month's column) that the class of 1952 went over the top in the 1982 Alumni Fund drive and won the Group V Green Derby! Four hundred and twenty-three classmates chipped in an average of over $341 apiece for a total of $ 144,356. Performance was 17.3 per cent over goal and participation was 64.6 per cent of the class, five points higher than last year. Before we get too cocky, though, we should be aware that our shadow, the class of '53, will be added to our Green Derby group next year; they won Group VI this year with 84 per cent participation and total giving of $106,284 (the first nonreunion class to give more than $200,000). It looks like we'll have to pull our socks up even higher!

Congratulations to Dick and his crew for a job well done and also to Bob Brace, who led the total fund effort over the goal, with more than $9 million in contributions and a participation of 65.6 per cent!

Big Bob Schuldt has been in and out of Chicago on several consulting assignments which has given us several occasions to get together. After 20 years with General Electric, four with the Mead Corporation, and two with the Washington Pose, Bob struck out on his own in the human resources (remember when it used to be "personnel"?) consulting and recruitment business. His shingle reads: Robert R. Schuldt and Associates. One associate is a Dartmouth '79, Bob's daughter Karen. Bob and Laura live in McLean, Va. Their son Tucker is at Dennison and is spending his senior year in England at the London School of Economics. Laura worked for the Reagan administration; her last job was as executive director of the Bureau of Mines, Safety, and Health. She is currently prospecting the private sector.

Bob reports that Dorn McGrath is marrying Lee Kimshe on October 3. Bob, Dorn, and I roomed together, and Bob suggested we have a three-man bachelor luncheon. If judged by past performance, this luncheon would obviously take several days. Unfortunately, I am headed west and cannot make it. Best wishes, Dorn and Lee!

Bob also reported that Tom Loemker is a group vice president at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, Conn.; that Chuck Keenan has bought a motel in Myrtle Beach, S.C., which the Schuldts will visit in October; that Will Rook was seen at the Dartmouth Club in New York City; and that Bob had lunch with Pete McSpadden.
